ok as you know i got that damn pcsecurity lab virus... nothing could defeat it. everything you virtuous friends offered in terms of advice went down for the count when I tried it.

so I decided to wipe the harddrive and reinstall xp all over from scratch.

JH1 sent me what I needed but for some reason each CD when I went to install it, told me that the serial code / product id was invalid (wrong).

thinking that old joker was pulling me cock, (which my honey wouldn't do that), I decided to try to install it on a microsoft virtual PC box.

guess what? it worked.

is there some reason WHY my machine will not allow me to install this? I have tried it with other serial # too that I KNOW were good and nothing.
it rejects each one...

Did you fdisk and remove all partitions on the drive during the install? Need to make sure any recovery partitions are also nuked.

P.S., you still suck with computers, I see.

I'm buying myself a MAC for my birthday...

just a thought.

(it's never too early to buy yourself a treat)

how do I do that?

I put the xp pro cd in the drive, boot it up, do the INSTALL>> NEW (although if I choose UPGRADE RECOMMENDED it does the same thing) >> ACCEPT AGREEMENT >> INPUT SERIAL >> then bammm.. says invalid/ bad product.

When it asks what partition to install to, you can nuke the drive there - delete all partitions that exist, then install to a bare drive.

Meh, I still haven't fallen for the MAC attack. If I need some Linux/BSD goodness, I'll just set the machine to dual boot or run it in a VM. :)

dude, I haven't reached that part.

I can't get past enter serial # part.

Ok, I got this installed... god I had to delete the entire hard drive and reloade it from scratch..

got two questions now..

#1 My wireless net connection isn't working. I have the hardware installed, it doesn't "find" it;

#2 The screen resolution is not going to anything other than 16 bit. (big as hell).
I am using the Olivia LCD tv for my monitor.

You need to find the proper drivers to install for #1 and #2 to work.

what did the pcsecurity lab virus do and how you get it?

do a search on my name find the old thread..

basically killed your intenet connection so that your webpages would jump to their buy now product site in the middle of you doing something, multiple pop ups and pop unders, resetting your desktop background to a dumb ass YOU HAVE BEEN INFECTED paper that you can't get rid of.

you computer seems to be bending you over with a giant donkey dick...............wheel of karma coming back to you???........ :lmao:

ps. when you come to you should check around to make sure your PC didn't jack all your shit while you were passed out.........hehehehehhe.

Now help bitches.

nice try, but we're not settling for no crummy negatives..........the real deal or no deal! :lmao:

ok, in all seriousness.........you "sure" you wiped the entire harddrive? Last time I did this I had a Dell guy take me to a DOS prompt and type some shit in. A "true" wipe doesn't happen from putting in the XP disk.......all that does is write the new info over the old. I belevie a "true" DOS wipe makes your HD clean as a twinkies ass......... :rainbow:

do You have a Windows upgrade cd or a full install? the key must be full or upgrade too.

All a reinstall does is put you back to square one. You've lost a driver file or two that make your WiFi and monitor work... plus your whole porn collection... but worse, you're still vulnerable to having the same thing happen all over again.

Go find yourself a small local shop with someone behind the counter who's old enough to shave -- which rules out Geek Squad three times over -- and fork over some bucks.

And K to what jon79 said. The only bitch in this thread is the one pwned by Bill Gates.

unfortunately Bill Gates and his shitty software pwn alot of people.

Hard drive = wiped
XP = reinstalled
wireless = now working

the only thing missing is how to adjust the resolution on the monitor. When I go under Display properties, the only option is 16 bit. The little slider bar next to it will not move at all (like it normally does).

I *think* what is going to have to happen is I look up a regular monitor to the PC, adjust the resolution and then hook this olevia LCD tv back up as the monitor... that is how it originally was. I had a monitor on here, but then when I got this tv, hooked up the tv and the resolution was fine.

only problem is I longer have a monitor. So I hope there is a driver out there to do this.
