Need help with lack of sleep training....

Okay I'm in the Navy and am going back out to sea soon. Being at sea makes lifting tough...Mainly because sleep and diet are shit...The average nights sleep is around 4-6hrs and I have a very exhausting job...Before I would still lift but results were zero...I just basically maintained what I had before we left...What do you guys recommend that I do as far as training with such lack of rest...What kind of routine do you recommend...How often...etc...

What equipment are you going to have access to?

I would think that the best thing would be just trying to maintain. If you push yourself to hard you're not going to do anything but possibly hurt yourself.

Not real sure the equipment yet..I don't check onboard until Monday, but if I had to guess I would say just basic..i.e. bench, db's perhaps a squat rack...Thanks for the response big

My guess would be to use a simple powerlifting type routines 3 days a week.

Say Deadlift monday, bench wednesday, and squat friday.

Do some basic assistance exercises for each of the lifts and don't train to failure.

Also make sure you eat ALOT of protein.

Hey Ghettostud how many sets would you recommend?? and high or low volume

I'm no expert on powerlifting, but I'd go with a basic 5x5 routine on the squat, bench and deadlift.

For the assistance exercises I'd go 1 solid set for 3-4 exercises.

That's just my advice and there are many others on this board more knowledgeable, but I think it would work well.

The idea being to not over do it in the gym. Leave a little in the tank if you know what I mean.

I do shift work and I often don't sleep more than 5-6 hours, it sucks and I do get injured easily so I have to be extra carefull. EG: I will work out as hard as I can for a week or two, then be really tired and take a week off...
