The SSRI's can cause sleep problems, I believe. IIRC, it is usually temporary and sleep is supposed to improve in the long run. Lexapro should alleviate the anxiety you are having at night tha keeps you from sleeping.
You could ask for a temporary benzo from your doctor like ativan or xanax, both of which would help you. If that is not an option or they refuse, find a new doctor or buy generic bendadryl or any product that contains dyphenhydramine hcl. This is the same thing that tylenol PM, simply sleep, etc. have in them.
