I am having some problems shedding fat. I am in a job that I can't control my diet too much. None of the flax seed or anything like that. I pretty much can stick to a meat thats not always THAT healthy and some vegetables. portions are kept small and I have a fruit for snack in between meals and before bed.I am a big guy at 6 foot and 257 pounds. somewhere in the ballpark of 25% bf. I have been eating as good as I possibly can with AT LEAST an hour of cardio a day. On average I run about 3 miles in the morning 3 times a week with the other two days doing muscle failure type things( push-ups/Sit-ups ) and around 5 I do about 45 min. of cardio on a bike or eliptical(do to shin splints). I have been doing the best I can with what I got and am only losing about two or three pounds a week. Im looking for something that can cut the fat a little faster. Im looking to get down to about 190 ASAP. Any feedback will help

Try some albuterol. 3 mg 3 times daily.

stick a toothbrush down your throat and get manorexic :p
just kidding, but seriously if you do it use a Reach toothbrush its amazing :p
Ok for real though I didn't start to see fat loss with my cardio until i was consistant for about 4 weeks, I mean consistant, 4 times a week at least. I would do two sessions of HIIT for 20 min and two long sessions that ranged between 30-45 min. Oh yeah and i do cardio either 1st thing in the morn or directly after a workout. Unfortunately my diet is for crap, its semi clean, i basically eat anything but fast food, but I eat alot and maintain a stable 215lbs with a 34 inch waist at 5'10". i'm satisfied cause i was a 32 at 185 lbs and i'm only a 34 at current. Just remember your results are only as good as your inputs.

Why can't you control your diet?
With all that cardio, given whatever your diet is, 2-3 pounds a week is actually very good! Anything more than that isn't healthy. Though expect weight loss to slow down after a while... Try to clean up your diet even further, continue with your cardio as-is, and try some thermogenic supplements (for example, Lipoflame, Dermatherm, Thermorexin, etc etc).

I heard Carson Daly lost all that weight on a semen only diet, you could try that.

Is their a legitimite reason that you can not bring chicken breasts, cottage cheese, vegies, protein shakes to work.
If you can't get your diet dialed in then there's not much you can do.

Instead of cardio, lift weights.

Eat less.

Problem solved.

Totally agree, Nelson. Every time I have tried the cardio route I have failed to lose any noticeable weight, with the exception being when I ran 3 miles a day, 5 days a week for 3 months. No thanks to that shit.

Lifting hard and eating right is far, FAR more effective for me than cardio. Besides, my workouts *are* cardio- if I look at a heart rate monitor at any time during my workout it is in the fat-burning range, sometimes a bit higher. An hour or so of that 4-5 times a week will nuke the fat off you.

you need to be looking to drop 1-2 pounds per week, nothing more. If you drop too much too fast then you are losing muscle and thats not what you want.

Alright so the general response is just do some weight lifting instead of cardio? I have to run at least 3 miles 3 times a week in the mornings. The afternoon workout is generally up to me. I eat about the least I can without starving myself and I have always heard that having a fruit for a snack in between meals keeps up your meto. If I start the weight lifting Im guessing I should just try to maintain a good heart rate taking the necessary times between reps/sets?
