Hey Bro's,

Can any of you give me advice on what and when I should take some type of diaretic the last week before my show?

I have never used a diarectic before, but that is what I am being told to use by some guys at the gym where I train. They say that is what I need to get that extra dry look.

Any advice would be great!

have you done a show before? if so was being dry a problem? if your diet isn't right and your BF% isn't low enough, then water content/retention won't matter. we need some more info bro. also are we talking OTC water pill or lasix? how water will you be taking in? how are you going to taper off your water?

Thanks for responding... Yes I have done 3 shows but am not sure if I could get a little dyer.
My diet is right on... Yams, brown rice, oatmeal, fruit and vegetables are my carbs source.
Chicken breast, turkey, lean beef, egg whites, tuna and regular fish to and whey protein. Drink lets of water,
about 6 quarts a day. Take all the vitamin’s c, b-complex, multi, amino's and L Glutamine, etc.

I am also doing 3cc eq a week, 1cc prop every other day and the last 4 weeks I will be doing winnies.

Does that give you a better idea?

Body weight is 215lb 4 1/2 weeks out from show. Last show competed at 208lb.

First of all, diuretics are the most dangerous substance a competitor can take, AND, they often backfire. You wind up coming in flat and drained.

A couple of days before the show take dandelion and uva ursi and drink as much water as you can. The day before the show alternate between the steam room and the sauna for an hour in the afternoon and an hour at night. You'll be dry.

Yams, rice and oatmeal? That's supposed to be good?!?! That's the starchiest shit in the world! Cut it out.

Drop the prop, it'll make you retain water. Winny, Var or Primo are your only choices a month out if you want to be bone dry contest day.

dont forget suspension....that is very good to take up to the show. and halo will work better than anavar. if you dont know how to use diuretics or know someone you trust that can tell you then dont use them. not only can you die....but they can make you look very flat on stage.
 
body sounds good. i don't see a problem with your carbs. they are the lowest glycemic carbs you can get. i would up your water 8 to 10 quarts. i know it seems like a lot but at one week out if you go monday=8qt, tues=6qt, wed=4qt, thur=2, fri=1qt. dandelion root and vit C and maybe some potassium to keep cramps down i think you will be fine.

I agree with you on carbohydrates, they are the lowest glycemic carbs you can get.
That is one thing I know from doing alot of research and trying different.
Who the hell wants to cut out all there starchy carbs to come in flat as a pancake not me!!

So you think that much water should do the trick? What do you think about cutting out the prop and
uping the Eq? How long should I take dandelion root?

Rice and yams are low glycemic???? Compared to what? Glucose sandwches?

Beans, fibrous veggies and fruit and low GI carbs but ultimatley I believe the whole GI thing is WAY overstated. Also, the amount of fat and fiber present will affect absorbtion of sugar. It all comes down to how much you eat.

Your the competitor here, not me, I have never nore will ever claim to be a diet wiz, for some glycemic specifics, check out Fonz's post on the diet board HERE
 
your first mistake was listening to "some guys at the gym". if your diet is right on then you shouldn't need to worry about the diuretic
 
what do you want....you want them to come do the show for you? truthfully you cant be trained properly by someone over the internet for a show. go find a trainer around your area. you need to be evaluated by the way you look.

All I did was ask a little question about diaretic's. I have never used one before and I was justing asking some info on how and if it was a good idea.

As far as my training and dieting go I know what the fuck I am doing..... If you don't think so I will email you a pic.

What do you mean if my diet is right on I don;t need a diarectic? You can eat the cleanest foods and still en up holding a little water.

Do you have any thing else to add except to recap the same shit?

I've done 4 shows now and have used a little aldactone Wed, Thurs, Fri. (50-100 mgs). For nationals last year I dropped some lasix as well. Now, I don' t have any troubles getting pretty dry without it and trust me my diet was right on, but that little extra can really make the difference. I'm lucky I don't cramp up, but I've seen it happen and it's an ugly thing. My water intake went like this: Wed 8 L distilled water, Thurs. 10 L distilled water, Friday 1/2 L distilled water. What can I say it works for me.

my last show I used torsemide (Demadex®) which I liked, I shed the water and didn't cramp, for the show before that I used Lasix and I cramped on stage, I was also outdated if that means anything, but I'm going to keep using the demadex. I did a half a pill on thursday, half on friday and a whole on sat. I think, I can't remember exactly.
 
Man how many people are you going to ask the same damn question to. Forgive my Bro he can be a ass at times. Shit how many contests do you need to enter before you figure this crap out!!!!!!! :p :p :p
 
If you think you are holding water I would get off the fruit and the rice and stick to baked potatoes, they are dry and will soak up any water under your skin, if your bf is low enough of course, worked for me anyway good luck.

Already cut out the rice about 4 days ago and lowered my carbs to about 100grams a day. And upped my protein intake to 300 grams a day.

Seems to be working for me!

It's just a local show in my home town. As far as getting those products, I'm not sure what to tell you. A bud of mine helped me out. Cheers
