Need two sets of measurements

A 19" 16:9 ratio widescreen LCD is 16.25" wide and 10.25" high. What would the width/height of a 20" 16:9 ratio widescreen LCD be?

17.10 X 10.79

i'm lazy, so i assume that there is a calculator for everything.

The TI-200 (Voyager 200) can do derivations and integrations. Doesn't work the best, but it's still cool.

Ratio's off. 16/9 = 1.77778

17.1/10.79 = 1.5848

More like 17.43 X 9.804375

I don't think a 20'' will have a lower height than a 19''

If we keep the same proportion then the 20'' is 20/19 larger than the 19'' which leads to 17.1/10.79

But it looks like each brand measures their monitors differently

Assuming the 16.25" and 10.25" measurments are precise, and that the same proportions are true for the 20" as the 19" lcd, then the 20" size will be...

17 1/16" x 10 3/4"

The original dimensions make for a 19.25 " display, and an LCD that is called 19" is exactly 19". My guess is it's an inaccurate measurement, or someone screwed the pooch when they published their dimentions. If that is correct, a 16:9 image will be distorted since the screen is closer to 16:10 than 16:9.

16:9's aren't an exact 16:9 proportion, each tv varies.

sush... I was trying to sound smart dammit ;)

I have a 57" 16:9 widescreen and playing videos still varies. I will still have black on the top and bottom of the video being displayed on 16:9 widescreen movies.

It is not an exact 16:9 proportion....like stated each tv will vary.

P.S. I am smart.

Thanks for the responses. I am in the process of upgrading:

a) a 19" CRT PC monitor to a 20" widescreen LCD versus a 20" 4:3
b) a 19" CRT television to a 30" widescreen TV versus a 32" 4:3

I don't know that I watch enough movies to care about widescreen tv but that seems to be the way everything is going anyway.
