Hey Guys,
Over the past few months i have made some awesome gains, the only muscle group lagging is my core. I have no idea how to train this area since i have never really worked on it. As far as workouts and sets i am lost. I have tried crunches and such but i feel they are pointless. i am looking for an intense ab/core workout to blast my midesction.
Thx Ben

try holding a weight ball and doing crunches on a medicine ball, or hanging leglifts. leglifts work good for your lower abs. You could even try leglifts flat on the floor with ankle weights on. Bicycle kicks, oblique crunches, broomstick twists, weighted twists (hold a plate and turn from side to side, using your abs). there's all sorts of ab exercises out there. Make sure to hit back though too. I always do ab workouts when hitting back (good mornings, deadlifts, stiff legged dead lifts, reverse sit ups etc....)

It's twenty fucking dollars there? Pfft!

Try doing bridges, side bridges, weighted crunches with a full range of motion on the physioball, and reverse crunches for direct work.

As for compound movements, overhead squats and deadlifts. Heavy lifts should train the core just fine. If not, you're doing something wrong.

Sled pulls, farmer's walks, stone lifts/shouldering, deadlifts, weighted crunches, hanging leg raises, power cleans, standing ohp.

That's just to list a few.

Cheers,
Scotsman

What is overhead squat. Is that squatting while holding a bb overhead? Sounds dangerous.

Yes. It is not dangerous. When you first start you will likely start with just the bar untill you perfect form. I found that it actually gets easier as the weight increases. At least to a point.

I did fall one time but was easily able to dump the bar in front of me.
