Just marketing. Book will probably contain nothing special. Plus I bet Govt probably wants to throw off people so they had this guy write a book with false information and act like it's a big shocker. Reality is more likely OBL's been dead for years. Hence whyt theere's "no body". We'll learn the truth when one of these seals finally blurbs it out on their deathbed.

I think i read somewhere that it was the most common lie that people tell about themselves - "I was an ex-navy seal".
Especially the ones that can't even spell it.
SEALS are overrated anyhow. Hollywood has glorified them to all seem like John fucking Rambo, when really there are a handful of SF groups that are far more elite.
Anyone with a brain and 5 minutes of military experience knows SEAL Team 6 didn't kill OBL. What a crock of shit.

the elite paramilitary groups we never hear of cull their membership from the seals and rangers etc, etc. The SEAlS are "far" from the most elite soldiers in the world, badass as far as reg military though.

Word. This is the same Govt that wants us to believe that a bunch of clumsy, lousy, untrained, boozing, womanizing student pilots, under INTENSE pressure, hijacked 3 jumbo jets and hit them dead on. One even did a fabulous 180 degree turn that wouldve impressed any veteran pilot. I Am over half way done with the book and thus far I have not seen anything that is even remotely classified. All missions that he spoke of were not on going, all of the TTPs (tactics techniques and procedures) he mentioned are not even remotely secretive. I think that the government is just pissed that one of their boys is talking. I remember being at home and seeing the Obama make the announcement, I turned to my chick and said how long until a book or movie comes out? I say about a year. The real people who made this a cluster fuck is the media. How can you release someone's real name and put them and their family in danger? I agree that we know way way to much anymore!! As far as seals I worked with a seal team while deployed and they were quite impressive, but no more impressive to me than Special Forces or Force Recon units. Each one suits a purpose and a specialty. The real bad asses are the people who we will never hear about.
I hate to say it but SF can't be compare to seals especially the devgru

The bad motherfuckers are the ones who's unit doesn't exist and who you don't know dick about because noone's telling, and they certainly aren't gonna write some made up bullshit book about their wanna be exploits either. They have legitimate work to do.

That's what I would expect...It would be like claiming that if in an AAR you talked about an L ambush then you would be revealing secrets; Infantry tactics are infantry tactics and well known. I haven't read the book but I haven't heard about fast roping onto the top of the compound. If possible you always clear from top down and not bottom up, that's what I was taught. Did the book give a reason why they cleared from bottom up? I assume it was because there was no top down access.

Why do people call it SEAL Team 6? It's been called DEVGRU since 1987.

That was the idea of Richard Marcinko DEVGRU founder he wanted to confuse our foes, there were only 3 seal teams so calling it team 6 made them think there were more teams. And not to mention it was a lot easier to call them team 6 rather than Navy Special Warfare Developmental Group.

The reason he quoted was because of the Black Hawk crashing, the original plan was to hover above and rope onto the top and use a breaching charge. While the rest of the team cleared the buildings in the courtyard and squeeze them from the bottom up. Great book couldn't put it down for 3 days...

This govt. doesn't give a shit about disclosing secret info, and i i dont think any really ever has. The news is always talking about shit that a terrorist would love to be recording at the time.
