that's what my buddy who lives there told me. he said all the new equipment gets demo'ed over there. plus that area is filled with hotties.

I've heard the same thing, evidently it is the state of the art. Too bad it's in Ballston, they could use a gym like that in DC proper. I think the closest to that would be the Golds in SW DC.
Post how the gym works (i.e. if it's crowded or not), let us know if it's worth a visit.

Ballston is in Arlington. The Gold's is where Al's Motors [Chrysler-Plymouth] used to be on Wilson Boulevard -- not far from the Ballston and Virginia Square Metro stations -- probably a bit closer to Virginia Square Metro. I wonder how long it will be there, as real estate along Wilson Boulevard between the Rosslyn and Ballston neighborhoods in Arlington is hot for high rise development.
