...and comment on its relevance to today's and yesterday's youth. Also, I feel it is among the greatest songs ever written. So there.
Oh yeah, and there are a few mistakes I'm sure but you get the point.

Shake down nineteen seventy-nine.
Cool kids never have the time.
Live wire right above the street,
You and I should meet.
Jump up, skipping like a stone.
With the head lights pointed at the dome.
We shall never see an end to it all.

And I don't even care
To shake these inner blues.
And we don't know
Just where our bones will rest
To dust against the forgotten
Then goes on to the Earth alone.

Jump across the vacant and the void.
They're not sure just what we have in store.
Morphine that's into slipping dues (this line is wrong)
Don't you see

And we don't even care
As restless as we are
We feel the pull
In the land of a thousand
Your support cements
Lamented anger shown.
To the lights,
The towns below
Thought asked to die
The scream of sound
Thought asked to die,
We've fallen, begone
But leave the sound of home.

Justine never knew the rules.
Hung down with the freaks and ghouls.
Bowed trees ever need behave
I know you better than you're thinking
To see that

We don't even care
To shake these inner blues
And we don't know
Just where our bones will rest
To dust against the forgotten
Then goes on to the Earth alone.

The street heats the urgency up now.
As you see, there's no one around.

I saw that coming a mile away Decem. Are you back from that 'other dimension' yet? Fucker.

No one is commenting on its relevance to today's and yesterday's youth though. I was hoping for at leat one dissertation. I am willing to give out A+++'s for good answers here.

Y'know, if I could stand the song, and thought the band was worth two shits, I suppose I could comment.

LOL

Fuck you. Just cause your boyfrend forces his feces down your throat at 1 hour intervals doesn't mean you have to take it out on the rest of us. :)

Nathan - with your location quote I don't think you should be slinging homo comments...

Would it make you feel better if I said that band was worth one shit, and not two?

:lmao:

shakedown 1979,
cool kids never have the time
on a live wire right up off the street
you and i should meet
junebug skipping like a stone
with the headlights pointed at the dawn
we were sure we'd never see an end to it all
and i don't even care to shake these zipper blues
and we don't know
just where our bones will rest
to dust i guess
forgotten and absorbed into the earth below
double cross the vacant and the bored
they're not sure just what we have in the store
morphine city slippin dues down to see
that we don't even care as restless as we are
we feel the pull in the land of a thousand guilts
and poured cement, lamented and assured
to the lights and towns below
faster than the speed of sound
faster than we thought we'd go, beneath the sound of hope
justine never knew the rules,
hung down with the freaks and the ghouls
no apologies ever need be made, i know you better than you fake it
to see that we don't care to shake these zipper blues
and we don't know just where our bones will rest
to dust i guess
forgotten and absorbed into the earth below
the street heats the urgency of sound
as you can see there's no one around

I was watching an interview with Billy Corigan once and they asked him why he chose, 1979 and he said that he like the way it sounded. Had nothing to with anything in paticular. LOL!!!

Man alive I fucked those lyrics up. Thanks ever so much for making me look like even more of a tool than I already am known to be. I'm going home now and i will never ever return to this awful website filled with mean, nasty, horrible people who are all out to get me. I'm crying now and I hope you're all happy.

whoa...
that totally just blew my mind.

anyone else singing "get out of my dreams... get into my car... get in the back seat baby..."?

yeah.

the relevance of this song is that i was 9 years old in 1979....not sure how old i was when this song came out.
