Myths about chiggars.

Nail polish doesn't kill them. Nothing does. They are not a parasite. They feed off of plants in the adult stage. It's in the larvae stage that they get on your skin and attack and feed off of skin cell matter. They do not burrow. Nail polish and other chemicals just cut off the air to the bites making them itch less. It's much better to use anti-itch creams. I don't know what eventually kills them as the article doesn't say, I suppose once they mature.

chiggers suck, literally

I'm eaten up with them. I'm gonna have to put sulphur in my yard.

did you see my thread about how I just learned (and heard of) about chiggers a few weeks ago down in Georgia?

fucking lmaoaa

i had a really bad rash on my right arm. it's cleared up now but the rash lasted i swear to god 8 months. I don't remember what i was reading up on but i had tiny little marks that looked like i stabbed myself a hundred times with a needle. I did a google search for flea's or blood sucking insects and i don't really remember what i which insect i was reading up on but it mentioned something about a tiny bug can burrow inside of you and live for a few days, when it dies that's when the rash comes because our bodies are naturally allergic to these things because their dirty/dusty bodies. There was no real remedy for it just lots of cortizone or any anti itch cream due to the fact that our bodies will detoxify itself if a unknown object enters our bodies and will eventually spit it out!?!?!? you said chiggars don't dig inside our skin so i have no idea what it could be? the only thing i know that digs in us is a tick but you'd get lime disease in some cases.

My rash SUCKED so bad though i tried everything to make the itch go away and nothing really helped that much. Someone told me about the nail polish remover and they said vinagar works too. I even tried that blue star ointment that says it's for jock itch hahaha it honestly made the itch worse. The entire time my arm felt like sand paper from the rash and itching it every 5 seconds. I did buy this nextcare stuff for skin cracks after it started clearing up and now i have a girl arm where it's smooth.

All these are myths? I never even heard of a chigger until this post.

CHiggars are a southern thing .... you seem to only get them in the south. I got them all the time growing up in NC. They are so freaking itchy and uncomfortable. You get them from being outdoors - in grassy areas or woods.

Scabies. My wife got that when she was pregnant. You can pick it up easily anywhere. Just from casual contact, like brushing someone at the mall, or resting your arm on a counter where an infected person did the same.

My daughter got them from her best friend. In court, my ex-wife told the judge that she got them from my house. The judge had ordered a social study for their household based on things my daughter told the family court services. After my ex said that, the judge said that I would have a social study too. Some judges are dumb as fuck. You don't get scabies from an unclean house as she was trying to insinuate.

Itches like crazy. My legs are eaten up by them.

I'm about to rip my flesh apart. These things have spread. The only thing that sucks about living in the country. I've had poison ivy twice, chiggars at least twice, and a nasty spider bite.

Damn! Im over at my parents. My mother says it's poison ivy. That's even worse.

I grew up in a house that was up against a forest, so chiggars were a part of life, if you stepped 2 feet into the woods you would get them. They are tiny little ticks that bite you just like a tick, when you get them you can see them crawling around, you have to pick them off one by one. pouring alcohol on them usually helped kill them, but they crawl fast and work their way up from your ankles to some other unwanted places pretty fast. I used to hop in the pool and just sit in there for a couple hours til they drown, which seemed to work too.

I think I got it on my balls. :bawling:

never, ever, EVER walk through weeds not wearing socks and jeans around here. Your legs will be covered and you will be praying for death come the next morning.

Yeah, my wife had a real proble, with that. She thought, "How could such clean enlightened people like ourselves get these. We must be filthy." The Doc set her straight.
