My Thoughts on the new karma system.

Let me tell you why.

My KARMIC power is much higher, when I approve of someone's post they really get to feel it now.

All my good bros have higher karmic powers too. Basically, when they approve of my posts, I get more karma!

I can hit MORE people. Before it was 20 people per 24 hours, that was ok, but 30 is 50% MORE! I liked the trial period where it was 40, but I'd take 30 over 20 any day. More love for me to share and more love for me to receive.

The spread value is lower. Before it was 40 betwen people. That sucked. I could hit someone once every other day if I was religious with giving out all my hits, which I usually wasn't, because I don't log on everyday. Now I can hit someone a couple times in one day, which i think is fantastic.

So who loses? The non plats. My heart goes out to a couple of them, my homie Mr. DB is one. But to be perfectly honest, almost all of my good bros are plat. I could list my non plat good bros on one hand.. but platinum good bros are ALL around! So it was a tradeoff, and the non plats too a hit.. but let me tell you the BEST part of it.

Any NON PLAT can get all of these new benefits.. the 30 hits to give per day, the increased karma power.. all by simply going plat!!!!! Amazing isn't it?

I can see why some newbies here wouldn't be plat, but if you have been here for a year or two and are in the karma whore game, just pony up and go plat. Support the site that gives you all these endless hours of fun and games with so many good bros. I think its worth it, if you don't, that is fine, I respect that totally, just don' bitch about not being able to give out as many hits, or having to spread more, or that your k power went from 12 to 8.. boo hoo man, you can easily get that power back and more.

Seriously, I went plat a few years ago and I swear my cock grew 3 inches.

I don't see why so many people are against it, seems like the majority of karma is given out in chat, and the majority of good bros in chat are plat.. so what's the problem fellahs?

i dont like the fact that nonplat k power was slashed in half, along with the # of hits they can give, nonplats definaltely add to the site, why penalize them?
you should reward plats but not punish nonplats

Hammy has the meat of it. It great for Plats to get the boosts you mention. I think they just overcooked the desire for greater disparity between the Plats and non-Plats.

I agree with you that I would take the 40/10 system over a 30/15 system anyday.

And if I had the choice I'd give the plats back their 20/40 system or whatever and not decrease their K power.

But given the situation we have now, more power for plats, more hits, less spreading, I think its a fair tradeoff. Really, how many non plats do you have here that really care about karma much? Like I said, I can count them on 1 hand. And i'll say it again, all these great benefits ARE available to non plats, the choice is up to them.

I have remarked on the bias against non-Plats before. Speaking for myself, I purchased some valuable e-books and was given the opportunity to use this site. I am no free-loader.

Many non-Plats are strong, informed contributors. Some are bums. I could say the same for the Plats. The few times I was "bullied" .. it was a Plat.

I give karma a lot, especially when I laugh. The more I give, the better I feel. Cutting the value of the k I give doesn't harm me ... it short changes the witty original poster.

HOWEVER ... this site belongs to the owner and he sets the rules. He is the Boss. That's life and good business. I'm still going to give out my k, try to add value to the site, learn and grow.
 
I smacked Anti Rotten Willow with red and I noticed that my red hit was 714 points. Almost the same as my green hit. Cool. :)

Does it really matter what it is? It's same for all Plats. I would understand the crying if other Plat would have the 40/10 and other the 30/15 system. Would someone really spread their karma 200 times a day if it was possible? 30 or 5, playing goes on if you're a player, and if not, then your life is much easier.

you can't do it anymore, that was awesome though you just had to rapid fire click a lot and it would keep tackin up the hits.. you could spend all 20 hits on one post if you had them.

the more we pay the more features this site can offer. think of the number of members, the disk space, the bandwith.... and when we want all these little enhancements who do you think does them?

Its a symbiotic relationship, true, but you have to give something to get something.

So when I say I represent the people, my people are the paying customers of the site. No offense to the non plats, I love you all, but I don't represent anyone pro bono.

I'd have to hit someone 47 times to equal 1 lestat hit....

98 times to equal 1 Raina hit....

However, I'm still pretty proud of my 7 points each and everytime I MAX out my 10 hits/day....I just hope that whoever I give my 7 pennies to, appreciates them as well.

I just like to say thanks for help or for making me laugh and I always like to return a green gift.

This past week I've had to prioritize and allow a backlog to build up. I've also had to let some returns slide when bros have hit me twice in one day. I've tried to continue to contribute but had to hold off on giving K.

I vote with my pocket book. I was considering going Plat after the recent change to 40/10, especially after my free "week" Plat gift from BRR (even though it only lasted five days and five hours...). But going Plat now would mean that I support the kinds of decisions that have been made this week, so I'll just keep my money in my pocket thank you very much.

What standard features do you support taking away from non-plats next?

Right. What lestat also does not seem to be able to grasp is that non-plats are not freeloaders. Many of them have been platinum members in the past but just aren't currently. Some have bought karma. Most importantly, they are one of the main reasons George is able to offer you these features you keep rhapsodizing about lestat. How? By generating a tremendous amount of traffic on this board. That makes this business more viable and attracts new 'investors'. C&C is the main board, without all the non-plats, it would be a pretty boring place.

the next things I've put in the queue are limits on posts per day... then eventually, limits on the number of posts you can read per day.. ultimately restricting it to just readinging the first post of any given thread and having to pay to see any responses.. that will really spice things up around here.


And I am kidding.

Reading and posting will always be "free." At least that is my vision. But additional features like karma, PMs, posting pictures or viewing pictures, searching, etc.. that type of thing will require some type of payment.

I wish you'd go plat bro. I went plat long before these changes. You want to know what the main motivating factor was for me? The search. That non plat google search is worthless!! It sucked. When I want to get some info on a particular supplement, I want to be able to run a fine tuned search on the posts on this board. Going plat allows me to do that.

Before the search change, I was plat for about a year. I did that because I wanted to contribute to the site. There were no galleries, search was free, I didn't care about karma. I just figured it was the responsible thing to do considering that this site helped me SO much with my training. True, it was the USERS, plat and non plat alike that made it valuable, but someone has to pay to run this place.

Once the search change was made, I went plat for life. No need to dick around with paying a month to month fee, just pay it upfront and I'm good to go. I have been in the fitness message board community for a while, I'm registered and post at 3-4 other boards, but this was my first, and its where I always end up returning. The number of posts and users makes this place the most potent source of info for fitness and bodybuilding (among other things) that I have found.

Have I always agreed with the Admin's policies? no. Are there things I think are lame? yes. But overall, there is a hell of a lot of good stuff going on, and I'm glad to be a part of it.

I can totally see things from both sides. From the side of a non plat. Someone who doesn't have money really to blow on an internet message board, or someone who doesn't use the place frequently enough to really warrant it. But if someone actually decides to stick around and become part of this community, I'd say its almost expected that they go plat at some point.. maybe a year? maybe two? I dunno.. the site has to make money too, that is the other perspective I see. Its a business, a good one, and one where everyone benefits.
