My Son is Going to the Texas Wrestling Academy

I did it. Its great. Fucking work though. Tore my right medial meniscus landing wrong. Then had a comparative MRI done because my left knee felt wrong to my ortho in the hands on exam when comparing it to the right and turned out the left knee problem wasnt just the old mensicus tear i knew i had from high school but a completely torn and wasted ACL. I said piss on it and dropped out after that.

Tons and tons of drugs in wrestling. Tons of rec drugs too. Alot of those indy guys who are still doing it even though they now realize they will never make it to the WWE are walking time bombs.
There is a guy in the Fed I was going to wrestle for (he was in the movie "The Wrestler") He's like 6'0" 295, about 28% bf. Big muscles under alot of fat. Constantly on some sort of juice, Narco pain killers after shows, drinks like a fish, always into coke. OMFG....its unreal.
Met Jimmy Snuka....talk about rec drugs....holy shit!!

Its good that he has life experience and goes into it with his eyes wide open. Young kids with starry eyes get chewed up and spit out by this business.

The movie "The Wrestler" pretty much nails life for guys NOT in the WWE.
Thanks man, I'll definitely pass that on to him. I'm not worried about rec. drugs, he's been there/done that, got it out of his system (nearly killed himself a few times I found out later) Like I said, who am I to piss on his dreams, he seems pretty realistic, has some friends going there already I think (he lives in San Antonio) he just wants to try.

Shit, with my torn up tendons I've warned him but again, his body/his choice :lmao: I'm glad you have good feelings about it even though you saw the bad shit and it was rough times.

I love the sport. If I didn't have the acl I would have kept going. I wasn't about to get reconstruction just for a hobby when it wasn't at a point where it's super necessary yet. Still isn't fixed and I'm squatting, DL'ing ect still.
I can't watch it anymore though cause I can't see it from a fan point of view any more. I watch them wrestle and I'm watching them "work" . Which isn't that bad but its kinda deptessing. But its all good.
"the wrestler" and "beyond the mat" are great movies. Especially for someone wanting to do it. Everyone will get something different out of it.

Man he's going to be 28 years old in a month, he's been in the Air Force, married & divorced, has a college degree, supports himself and is pursuing something he enjoys. Just exactly what do you think his mommy can tell him? Besides has no delusions.

He'll hear first hand from ex-wrestlers that there's absolutely no money in it, they're all addicted to pain medicine and the promotions exploit the hell out of them like they are hookers.

He may have my attitude and insanity but doesn't seem to have any of the spinal or joint problems I've had all my life, his father was a shithead but I'll give the fucker this, he was physically sound.

Can watch The Wrestler 100 times to prepare?
