The routine that i have done and been doing on and off for the past 4 years follows like this and i have gotten 20 pound gain in a montha nd a half not following a proper diet with 8 % body fat, but i cant get past the 170 lb mark.

Sunday - Chest/Tri/Abs
Monday - Back/Bicepts/Abs/Calves
Tuesday - Legs
Wednesday - Shoulders/Traps/Abs

Then it starts over on thursday
usually do 5 sets starting with light weight 15 reps/ 12 reps/ 10 reps/ 8 rpes/ 6 reps. Increasing weight with each set. Natural of course.

Are you still gaining strength from this workout or have you reached a plateau? If so it may be time to change things up a little and try the beginner 5x5 routine.

If you eat more, you'll gain weight. There's no escaping that. If you're not gaining weight, guess what? You're not eating enough. It's no more complicated than that.

Your training stinks. Don't you think your muscles might need a day off in order to repair themselves? Ditch the isolated bodypart split routine and start using compound movements. Look in the stickies at the top of this forum and learn a bit more about training. Look at some of the links from this page: http://www.geocities.com/elitemadcow1/table_of_contents_thread.htm In particular, learn about frequency, volume, intensity and load.

I am still gaining str. but not so much the size, i and more cut than anything from it, but i sopose being strong as to being big aint a bad thing.

What's your goals? Big and strong or just ripped? I totally agree with anotherbutters - there is no such thing as a 'hard gainer'. If you're not gaining weight, then eat more. It truly is that simple.
Your workout, to quote anotherbutters, stinks. You workout every day with no rest? No wonder you've slowed down on the strength gains. You need to re-think you lifting or you will stop altogether making gains. Big, heavy compound lifts make for big, heavy size and strength gains.

Like these guys have said, you need to give your muscles a break, you can't constantly be lifting. Try working out those 4 days but give yourself 3 days of rest somewhere in there. Or change things up completly and try a 5x5.
