My progress...

Hi guys,

I haven't posted here for a while but have been lurking for a long time. For those who don't remember me I'll tell you a bit about myself and the challenge that I have faced up till now.

A few years back I was your average kid. 6 foot 1 and relatively skinny but not a low enough bodyfat to see my abs clearly. Around 165 lb's. While walking down Oxford Street in London I was approached by an agent from a modelling agency. I was given a free portfolio shoot and quickly began to get modelling work. This is how I looked back then:

As the months went by I was pressurised in to dieting to achieve an even leaner look. I did so. In fact I did it far too well, I quickly became obsessed with losing fat. It took over my life and I ultimately ended being diagnosed with anorexia. I was less than 130 lb's but still I felt fat. Week after week I kept losing weight, I was wasting away. I can't bring myself to post any pictures of myself in that state so please forgive me.

Anyway to cut a long story short; thanks to support from my family and friends I was able to quit modelling and snap myself out of anorexia. I started to lift weights and began to put back on some of what I had lost.

This is me after about 6 months of lifting and eating slightly better:

Now fast forward to today. About 6 months later and I have learned an awful lot with regards to sports nutrition, eating for lean mass and lifting. I have been busting my arse off regularly to make a difference to my appearance and it is finally beginning to really pay off. I am now up to 175 lb's. Here I am now:

Sorry about the poor quality in these pics but they are taken with my camera phone. I am carrying too much fat for my liking right now but I am pleased with my size and strength gains. Although I have been lifting for a little over a year now I have only really been doing it properly with a diet aimed at gaining mass for the last 6 months. I know I am still a skinny runt by most of your standards but my goal has never been to get huge. I would like to be around 190 lb's max, very lean, but I am so pleased with my progress that I thought I would share it with you all. For the record I am completely natural and the only supplement I take is whey protein as a PWO shake. I get everything else I need by eating properly. :)

I know I need to lose the little bit of excess fat around my midsection but any comments or tips on where I can improve my physique are more than welcome. Thanks for everything!

Wow! First, let me say that you have an awesome face! From most girls' perspective, the face is more important than a perfect body, even. Thank goodness you got out of the modeling industry if they were making you damage your body! That is entirely too THIN for a man! Most women that height would not be that thin, even. You are definitely moving in the right direction. Keep up the great work! You may want to eventually try fitness modeling. I had a boyfriend who did some of that when he lived in South Beach. He was a body builder but not particularly big. Anyway, good luck and keep on with your new healthy lifestyle!

Thank you so much for the kind words HeatherRae. Your comments are very much appreciated. :)

I may consider fitness modelling at some time in the future when I reach my goals with regards to my physique but for now I am steering well clear of the industry. It did a lot of damage to me and would hate to slip backwards after I have made so much progress.

Anyway, thanks again for the encouragement!
