As I sat at the table last night, eating my rice krispies (HIGH GI) rice cakes (HIGH GI) and other cold processed cereals (SAME CONCEPT AS DEXTROSE, JUST NOT COMPLETE SUGAR WHICH I CAN’T FATHOM) I thought to mtyself….why the hell, after eating low gi great protein and carb sources all day before training, am I scarfing down all these junk carbs (100g worth)??? Everything tells me (from readings) that high gi is the way to go….some chose dex, some sweet tarts and candies, some processed rice, rice cakes, cereal, ect……does this make sense? Why do I want to eat this crap after I just put an hours worth of die hard dedication into my training….only to pound back a mess load of processed foods?? Any takers?

The brain (of some individuals) reacts to eating in a similar way it reacts to cocaine and other addictive substances. (I saw a TV show the other night about this).

When a person desires cocaine, or certain foods, specific areas of the brain light up. After they consume the item the area of the brain that relates to satisfaction lights up. Although the specific mechanisms for cocaine and eating are totally different, there are similar patterns that occur in the brain.

My guess is you have a slight mental addiction for those foods. Just like with cocaine, a little willpower can get you to stop.

Cocaine of course j/k (throw in some strippers too...)

Seriously, I'm a strict bastard when it comes to dieting. Right now my 'sin' is a myoplex bar after I workout (in addition to 25g of whey). Aside from that I pretty much stay away from the high glycemic carbs. :coffee: I got a close-out special on the bars for $5 a box and I bought enough to last me a year. :chomp:

I also CANNOT quit drinking Diet Coke. I know I am slightly addicted to it. There is nothing bad in it - no carbs, no sugar etc. and tons of caffeine but I still feel I should quit drinking it. I think the sweetness of it satisfies my cravings.
