My plan, to make myself exercise

fyxgel2

Banned
Well, I've decided that I've been rather lazy recently, only managing cardio at an average of once a week or less. And of course then theres the fact that I havent lifted in a year.

Yeah, I need a shot of willpower, but that hasnt been happening, so I've decided its time to resort to some other solutions. This next insurrance period on my car, I am going to take off the insurrance, that way I will limit my ability to transport myself to places by automobile.

Then I will either be forced to run, or to bike places, like if I want to go to the grocery store, Best Buy, etc.

Yeah, some people have told me that I should just let myself have some low level insurrance on my car, that way I can bike or drive, depending on what I want to do, but I've told myself that only going half assed aint gonna work.

If I let myself have some insurrance on my car, then I'm going to drive it all the time, and not bike or run any place at all. I like the idea of forcing myself to exercise much better, by not allowing myself to use my car at all.

Yeah, call me a wimp, a person who lacks willpower, whatever, I dont care. Whatever it takes for me to get to see my abs again.

Plus I think I can manage without a car for the mean time, seeing as I'm living on campus right now, I'm working on campus, and there are a lot of students in college who dont have cars. The only loss is that I cant drive home whenever I want to (and thats probably a good thing, since I was driving home way too much as it was)

Buy one of those flesh colored shirts with ab's imprinted on it and wear it around town when you're out.

And when it's time to dress up he can wear the one with the tuxedo imprinted on it.

LOL!!! Good point.

Hey Fxy, stop listening to BBF and whomever giving advice on how to pick up chicks. Start listening to stringbean and myself instead.

As you can tell by our last posts, they have no clue how to dress or on style in general. Under Armour doesn't have shit on Versace.

I'm not even going to comment on this stupid idea. Go to the gym, workout, problem solved.

You're just upset Bean and I came up with the imprinted t-shirt idea before you.

Ask Chaos. I remember him saying once he purchased a shirt that has gyno bulges.

I think you need counseling, seriously, it's nothing to be ashamed of it's just a rough period of life you're going through.

Oh and don't cancel your insurance you'll need it.

Same place the rest of us are. Although BBF has alot of issues, he admits to them, and is a dual major...one of them being psychology. You need counciling, orb, in my "professional opinion".

I'm just wondering how the FUCK this thread I made, warrants ANY of the comments that velvett made?

I dont exactly take it as a compliment when people say that I should seek professional help.

You have no interests, no motivation (other than getting with women and even there you are not motivated), you're clearly not happy with your life (whatever life that is), you seem to be in your own black hole and while you want to get out of it you don't know how or even where to start.

This thread demonstrates an irrational idea to force yourself to do something that you are not self-motivated to do. You can't force yourself to do something you have to be inspired and interested in your choosen activities. You need to ask yourself, "why am I not motivated to do the things I thought I enjoyed?"

Your threads are dripping with unhappiness, desperation and a somewhat irrational point of view.

Have you ever considered that you may just be depressed?

You might come to some sort of conclusions with your feelings if you sit down and talk to someone about them.

Velvett's an interior designer and has seen some of the most hideous painting/wallpaper schemes imaginable.

Along those lines, shrinks use colors to dechiper ones mental being.

If I were to guess accordingly, she is basing your situation with girls to someone who paints their kitchen pink and brown.

How are you going to go on a date if you can't drive?

either let the girl drive or find a girl who is like me in that she doesnt need a car to go about living her daily life. we could travel to places on foot, or bike, or something like that.

It's not an insult.

I am suggesting that you may very be suffering from a bit of depression.

EVERYONE goes through it and everyone has to find their own way to cope.

I know you are not trying to insult me, but it has the same effect.

What in this thread, suggests that I am suffering from a bit of depression? What in my original post suggests that?

Is it wrong to try to live without your car?

Take your battery out of your car and keep it in your apartment. That way you can drive if you want to but it'll be easier to bike. I wish I lived close enough to bke to work; that would rock.

!!!!!

It's not trying to live without a car.
It's WHY you want to live without a car.

I don't have the patience at the moment to search your threads and pick out all the posts that suggest depression. I've asked you about your interests on another thread - it's not typical to have NO interests.

This thread - You have stated that you have not been motivated to workout, you barely do cardio and you are not lifting at all.

Have you sat down with yourself to find out why you are not motivated to work out? That is the source of your problem not whether or not you have a car (and there's no such thing as "low" car insurance).

It could be anything.

"I'm tired, bored, hate working out, hate my gym, hate cardio, have no one to work out with, I'm just lazy, I feel small, I feel fat, I don;t feel anything at all."

Add too that..."I'm afraid of being rejected by girls.", "I wish I could get a girl, but can't bring myself to even ask one out." "I'm not attractive enough to get a girl" "I don't have any hobbies" "I'm a boring person".

You said psychology is your major. What does what we just typed tell you?

sorry, i hadnt seen this post before, so I will respond to it now.

first off, working out isnt one of those things in life that is supposed to be fun. Even back when I did it regularly it took a little willpower for me to do it. It wasnt my most favorite hobby or anything, I just did it because it was good for me.
secondly, I havent just lost the desire to work out or anything, it had been slowly waning away over the last 2 years, which was about the same time that i stopped becoming so obsessed about appearances.

sometimes you just have to force yourself to do things that you dont want to do. and sometimes you gotta take strong measures to do so.

its just like the people who dont keep sweets in their house, because they want to eat healthy, and they dont want to risk eating way too much sweet stuff.

I am willing to note that I may be depressed. I have been that way for a lot of my life actually. And more so lately than before, I am afraid. I think it has to do with my eating problems, and lack of discipline (which occurred ever since I had my eating disorder, which was about 3 years ago)

also that and I hate college, but I am making myself stick through it until I get my degree. Even though I despise every bit and aspect of college. Oh yeah, and I also have a hard time making myself actively involved in the social life around here, thus I have none.

And I see people walking around on a day to day basis with their friends having a blast during these "best 4 years of their life"
and it seems like 90% of the population around me has a girlfriend, and I always see couple holding handles and cuddling, and enjoying their little bliss together.

So yeah, as you can see, I may have a reason to be a little bit depressed.

But I dont feel that this is the reason behind why I'm not working out. I think that I am not working out, because I am just lazy.

so yeah, i have a

okay, I know that I have no interests. granted this is unusual. maybe i am a little bit depressed and just havent come to grips with that. The reason I dont think Im depressed is because the only symptom of depression that I carry is that I'm unmotivated. I dont really feel like sitting down and crying on a daily basis or anything like that.

In any case, granted there might be better ways to make myself exercise than to not use my car, but in any case I feel that those methods would require upping my mood/motivation, which is not something that happens over night.
However, perhaps not using my car, would force me to get more exercise in the mean time, and perhaps then I would start to feel healthier, and then become happier, and gain some motivation.

ever looked at it from that light?

PS:
yes, I am willing to accept that I might be a little depressed. And I'm definately willing to accept that I may look really depressed from your guyses points of perspective. But believe me, the ironic thing is that I dont feel that sad on a daily basis.
its just kind of like I dont care. so i dont know what you would call that.

Indifferent depression?

Hey rob, why the fuck do you keep responding to this shit? The kid has now degenerated to depriving himself of his car in order to try to force himself to workout.

Yeah, I felt the the same way when they said that shit to me.

I've heard that shrinks can work wonders, if you can swallow your pride long enough to go. I'll prolly never go.
Oh, yeah, get off your fat phucking ass and workout more! Cardio once a week, pfft! Choke yourself, Fatness!

Why have you chosen Elite Fitness as your posting site if you have not been working out before?...Just curious, no flamage here.

Good intention...wrong methods :P. Working out would definately help.

A shrink wouldn't be out of the question, the desperate pursuit of a woman with nothing to offer can only lead to a positive feedback loop of depression. I'm not saying you have nothing to offer, but with no interest, no confidence. You can develop these over time.

I was in your position a few years ago (I was and still am a teen :P) desperation, 0 confidence and defeatism lead to nowhere.

Again...good luck

at one point I used to work out all the time. This occurred for about 2.5 years straight. This was during a period of time in highschool where I needed to train for sports, but I also was pretty obsessed about my body. I worked out all senior year and summer, even though the only sport i did that year was cross country in the fall.

then eventually I guess I just kinda burnt out. I did some cardio the following first year of college (it was easy to fit that in since i was going to a community college. no homework demands. no social life demands) and then I started going to a real college last year,
and since then I just have hardly worked out that much.

I think it was a combination of college gettin in the way, and also just a waning interest in working out.

what if I find a desperate and hot woman, (who maybe doesnt have any interests or confidence) ?
At least I could relate with her a little bit, and make out with her.

I dont see how that could be so bad.

You are bound to get a girl if not several.

this right here, bro, is a solid idea which you've probably mentioned no more than 2-3 times before (thus, it has been overlooked by EF). i feel it's a winner, and might get you where you want to be.

Because everyone already knows most hot women are insecure and have no confidence. That is stating the obvious.

i would think that if you arei n the states, and on this forum. it shouldnt be hard to find a workout partner in the same city as you are?

the key is finding a dedicated workout partner, who is willing to show up regularly. I havent had much luck with finding people with compatible schedules, and if I do, they often lack the desire to workout every time.
