My newest bike

This is the new bike I'll be using on the AIDS/Lifecycle ride. A bunch of people on a cycling forum did a group purchase of the frame for $500 each. The frame is made by one company and usually sold under different mfr names like Litespeed, Fezzari, etc. The Litespeed Pavia is an older version of this frame that sold for around $1,500 with paint. I think the entire thing was around $2,700 after cherry picking new parts off Ebay and assembling it myself.

Quick and dirty bathroom scale test = 15.6 lbs and thats with relatively heavy wheels. I don't care enough to find a real scale since I wasn't trying to build a light bike. That would be a mistake at my size. I would have been happy with anything under 17.0 lbs. Because of my long torso I went up a size to get an extra cm of top tube, which is why the saddle may appear low to some people. I am extremely happy with the looks of it all. I just need to get in a few climbing rides to decide if I want to change the handlebar wrapping. The only other change coming will be a Garmin Edge 305, which is a computer, heart rate monitor and GPS all in one unit.

It is definitely more comfortable than the aluminum and steel bikes I had before. I can easily see myself riding this 3-4 hours and still feeling pretty fresh.

Is it carbon?

Meh. Not bad. Not as good as mine.

Is the frame made out of titanium? I don't know about that being the same as a Litespeed. I'd be surprised if they let their over-priced tools be rebranded/resold by others.

The chart is nice.

dunno why you'd go with an SRAM groupo and then the shimano cassette. Also, be sure to get the cadence sensor. I have the Forrunner305 and both that one and the Edge work with the cadance sensor.

Be sure to load it up motionbased. I have all of my workouts there except for the indoor ones.

It's kinda pretty but the seat looks too low.

I covered the saddle height issue in the original post. I went with a Shimano cassette because it's a Shimano hub.

The frame is carbon fiber and Litespeed didn't make their own. They outsourced it to a Taiwanese company called ADK.

I got some practically new custom Zipp 404's for both the road and track. I won't use these for everyday wheels but now I have to get different brake pads though. I have a few more changes to make soon like SRAM Red shifters.

I have some Zed4s myself. I LOVE the sound they make.

I put a wheel cover on the rear for even more speed.

Guessing those are tubbies?

yep. 1.1 lbs lighter than my Ksyrium Elites. I still haven't ridden them outdoors yet. It's been raining here and I want to get some Kool Stop pads first. Zeds, eh? Somebody has bank. ;)

I've dropped another $1,800 into a track bike and extra gears recently. I've just about blown my bike budget for 2008 already.

Kool Stop Pads?

I *think* I have the ones from Zipps that are meant for those tires - though I might have the campy ones that are meant for the breaks, but are good for the carbon.

But yeah - good job remembering you need to swap them out.

Are you racing any?

I believe Kool Stop and Swiss Stop are different companies, but one of them does make the pads for Zipp. I have Swiss Stop Yellows which are supposed to work on both carbon and alloy rims. Those Zeds are nice; way out of my price range though. I love that whoosh sound of a carbon disk. :)

I definitely won't do any road racing. I might do some Masters racing on the track down the road. I'd have to come off HRT to do it right and I'm not sure I have enough interest to do that.

Here's my track bike with Cane Creek Volos and the Zipps above configured for the track.
