My hood is way cool sometimes.

I dropped my credit card (I was walking home from the ATM and somehow dropped it while putting my gloves on).

Some dude called me and said he picked it up. He actually looked me up in the phone directory and found me.

So I went to pick it up (he lives two blocks away).

That was cool.

I love seeing the wonderful mix of people at my gym, too. Gay and straight, all shapes, colors, and sizes. Steroid heads, cardio queens, muscle dykes, noodle legged men with the lat walk...they make up the backdrop of my little workout world.

The little old ladies I help carry groceries sometimes....the neighbors whose dog likes me, the ridiculously meticulous old man next door who cares for his yard...the really nice Indian dude that runs/owns the vitamin store with everything I need...the extra nice college boy at the corner store....makes me the best cheat day sandwiches!

....the way people laugh at me at the grocery store cuz I never buy anything but meat, eggs, and veggies....and gummi bears.

I love my neighborhood <mind you I live in the city...amazing!>

there is a speed bump in front of my house and I have to hear all the freaking ricerockets go over it or scrape the underside of their cars. my hood used to be infamous for the gang activity that used to run rampant back in the day, but now that I am older, it aint so bad anymore.

I live in a gay neighborhood. My gaydar isn't the best, but if you go to my gym, you must either be gay or gay friendly, since everyone is open, and I do mean open.... heehee.

My hood became gayer as the original Chicago Boys Town became flooded with straight people who renovated and gentrified and commercialized it (I miss the old Boys Town so much..)...so now they've pushed us to this neighborhood where the property values are lower but there are more varieties of people.


Its funny, but the older I get, the more gay I look, I think....cuz women hit on me all the time now...not obvious...but, I get that 'what's that book ya readin' or the "LOOK" where eyes meet and you know...

Yes, actually. They are kinda cute too, but not overly feminine. You know, the 'sporty' type, baseball cap, long ponytail, minimal make up kind of gay girls.

Absolutely true in this case. The mix is intense...Swedish, Mediterranean, Mexican, East Indian, Chinese...you name it, there's a store here representing it.

There is a live theater venue, women oriented bookstore, etc. etc.

Too much to name...but the one unifying theme is acceptance of the rich diversity. And people say hello to each other....property values are nearly reasonable....women walk around at night...cops on every corner...doing their job.

....it won't be long...we're already being discovered by the mainstream...and then the throngs will come and turn quaintness into commercial monsters.

When I was in chicago for business a while back some women I met told me that boys town was real good for shopping. Plus they felt a little more safer.

I live in a very boring community.

Occasionally someone rides by on their horse. Sometimes a person takes their dog for a walk. I'm the only rebel who doesn't use a leash on my dog. He loves to make friends with every person and every dog he sees. He really has to do this. Sometimes antelope are visible from the property. Rarely, deer and coyotes will make an appearance. Bunny rabbits and foxes are very common.

About the only excitement is when the power goes out which is all too often. Went without for 9 1/2 hours last night. The power company sucks dogshit.

my neighborhood has 2 ghetto ass clubs next to it where 3 people were shot a couple months ago.
It is made up mostly of low income hispanics. Everyday when i walk out to smell the fresh air, i see atleast 3 or 4 broken car windows cuz their stereos got jacked.
I got jacked myself last month!
but then it is cool to see those ghetto ass kids doing mischief cuz it reminds me of how i used to be as a little kid. it's also tite to talk to many nice people that live in my apt. We chat about how we got our cars stolen, or if the police came on time,

sometimes we even laugh about dreams of getting our stolen shit back! ahhh i love my neighborhood!

Glad to hear that you enjoy your neighboorhood so much. Just as you enjoy the different races and lifestyles of people i enjoy the fact that 90% of the women here are blond and everyone speaks english as a first language. Not knocking your area just different strokes for different folks.

I live in an area that has a very high gay/lesbian population and I find I get hit on more by women than by men - yet on the flipside I find the women out here more attractive to look at and appreciate in general then the men. (No, I have no idea of what all that means - just a self-observation.)

A lot of alcoholics in my area too.

My neighborhood is a quie, older neighborhood. With a mix of retirees, middle aged families, and some college students.
Actually it's kind of boring. they didn't know what to think when I moved in with my Harleys. They are still scared of some of my friends I think, but they are getting used to them.
