my mail has been opened...

i received a letter from my lawyer today and the envelope had already been torn open when i received it. my mailbox requires a key and i'm the only one with a key. wtf?


none of the other mail was open, just the letter from my attorney.

is this something i'd want to call the PO about and ask?

I doubt there is any recourse or way to track this down.

Make a written note re: the mail (include date/time/sender/and PO stamp, if it becomes a frequent you will have a paper trail that could be used to find out which mail carrier is opening the mail.

occasionally I get mail that has been opened - sometimes even oibviously torn open. other times it might just have been a bad seal, or never sealed at all.
I get other people's mail at my place and sometimes open it without looking and then realize that it isn't for me, then I put it in their mailbox.

I wouldn't worry too much.
if you are losing money on it, then I would worry more.
or if you order porn mags and they are all sticky before you ever get them, that also is worrisome.
