NEW YORK, Dec. 22 (UPI) -- Former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson says dying can't be as bad as living, and the life he has now "sucks," the Daily Mirror reported Wednesday.

In an interview at Gleason's Gym in Brooklyn, where the 38-year-old is coaching children in boxing as part of a community service sentence for his part in a hotel brawl, Tyson said he misses having a woman in his life and eats all his meals at restaurants.

The newspaper said he is now overweight,and on medication to control depression and anger.

"There's no way that dying can be as bad as living," he said. "But while you're living you have to live."

Cash-strapped after blowing a $350 million fortune, he now lives in a $115,000 two-bedroom house in Phoenix, Ariz.

Asked how he fills his days when not in New York, he said: "I don't do anything. My life sucks."

Tyson was sentenced to six years in jail in 1992 for raping 18-year-old Desiree Washington, a Miss Black America contestant, in a hotel in Indianapolis. He served half his sentence and has since been involved in a number of altercations resulting in arrests.

Wow. Amazing that at one point, he was called the "saviour" of boxing.

At least, he's not MC Hammer.
 
Yeah, I don't know if Tyson raped those women or not. I feel sorry for the guy, I just think he's a depressed person by nature. Some of the things he has allegedly done are inexcusable though.
 
Here's the funny part. Vanilla Ice's life is fucking great! He's rich with a wife and kid. WTF?
 
I kinda feel sorry for the state of AZ. They have to deal w/ him now. Just like FL has to deal w/ OJ.

I do feel bad for him

I grew up with a lot of guys like him, and trained with them for seven years while boxing. It's hard to understand unless you see the conditions and experience they come from.

The guy had mega talent and was badly used and ill advised by dirtbags who essentially took him for every penny he had. Much like Ali

but that doesn't justify the legal problems he's had. convicted of rape and assaults?

although being fucked over by others financially isn't a good thing either. when you're rich and dumb it's hard to find someone you trust to handle your money.

Listen, I dont know what happened with those women. And Im far from an apologist for rapists. Dont know a lot about the second accusation, but the first one seemed inconsistent on her part.

The guy is imbablanced. There is no doubt in my mind he has always had severe psych issues, which were not only ingored, but likely encouraged because he was making people money. Its hard enough for some kid who never had a dime to be thrust into that kind of environment. More so for Tyson cause the guy is borderline idiot. He really is a sad dumb animal in a lot of ways

good post for the most, many valid points....agreed, i don't believe tyson is a rapist.That first rape trial was *bullshit*. The facts don't add up at all. He's not a bad guy if you have followed his career and he's not a stupid guy, either. He's actually well read but because of his voice and actions people tend to write him off as an idiot. He definetely has some psychological issues that could have been dealt with early on...he's more fragile than people think

as far as antics goes.....i think alot of it is to create attention and it's mostly an act. alot of people who know him say the same. After all, any publicity is good publicity. This holds true in the boxing world.

i'm still a tyson fan and always have been
but as far as boxing goes he's been done for awhile.

Boxing wise hes done. He was a speed guy. What made him so phenmenal was the qucikness at that weight

Yes. A combination of great speed and power. THe speed is mostly gone. I believe he still has the power to get lucky against anyone though. Whereas Evander Holyfield (a great champion) does not. He's gonna keep getting the shit kicked out of him. Btw, what did you want last night bitch? I didn't log back into 4 a.m.. :) Gotta go help my sister move her things out of storage.
