I did deadlifts today and the bar scraped the hell out of my legs. Is there anything I can do to prevent this in the future? Also another quick question, are deadlifts easier for shorter people like benching? Sometimes I think it sucks being tall.

there was some talk a while back about bleeding shins and i think most said that there is little you can really do other then trying to get your shoulders out a little more as to keep the bar an inch or so from the legs. I seem to do this naturally and have never had a problem (other then one max attempt). Some said if they chalk the legs it helps, but do not wear pads (think what would happen if the bar came down and caught the pad).
I would think it would be easier for smaller people because there is less bar travel and they do not have to squat down as far so they are higher up in their power drive part (no idea what to call it). Small people would be in the same position as you if you were doing rack pulls from just under the knee. you should be able to do more on rack pulls, so there you go.
lol...Yeah I don't really mind the scraping but I got to thinking about it and next time I deadlift if the same thing happens I am going to tear the scabs off todays wounds along with some more meat...lol. I think I'll just try to work a little more on my form and keep the bar a little farther from the shins.
