My insurance co. wants a detailed report...

My shed was robbed about a month ago and I filed a claim for the items stolen. Now the insurance wants a more detailed report of everything taken. I gave them the Police report and a description of everything such as
"Dewalt Hammer drill,
Craftsman Wrenches/Pipe wrenches,
Hammers,
500 piece Craftsman socket sets (2 sets=500)
Drill bits for Right angle drill,
Millwaukie Sawzall and blades,"etc etc.
And I put the price I paid of each piece next to the item on the list.

The guy called me today and said it was`nt detailed enough. lol He`s sending another form so I can fill it out again. Damn.

What else can I do? I will try and be more specific. He said He has to know exactly so he can investigate the price of the products missing for reimbursement purposes.

Any insurance people here? What are you looking for. I`m gonna go to Sears and Home Depot website and print every damn piece and send it to theguy with the price.

end.

also go to the porschse dealership and get the price for the car that was stolen ;)

I think there was a Jaguar in there. It may belong to Tiger88. Don`t ask...

describe it like you were sending somebody to the store to buy another one exactly like the one you had, which is pretty much what you're doing.

Insurance companies actually expect you to keep a receipt for things you bought 10 years ago. It is the most vile legally-run racket.

Model numbers.

I always tell people to take photos of everything they own - print them out and write down the manufacturer, serial #, model # and date - apprx of purchase on each page and leave in a fire box.

This is true.

What pisses me off is you pay these bastards your whole life to have coverage & then when you need them for something they try & screw you over somehow someway. What a bunch of bullshit. I had a gutter get torn off & called them to ask about getting it replaced. They told me I'd be better off to pay it myself because if I made a claim on it & for some reason something else happened down the road where I would need to file again they would drop me. What a f#cking rip off. They really take good care of their customers don't they? Been with them for over 25 yrs. It's a racket alright.

Dude, take your list down to Home Depot and get exact Model numbers on all these things and their costs..

Won't matter if its exactly the right one, but you will know when you see
the tool if it is close to what you had..

Out of curiosity, which company?

Sounds like an Allstate practice.

That`s exactly what I`m gonna do if I can`t do it online. Everybody was right about taking pics or having documented everything but I`m not that organized.

This whole thing has pissed me off enough that some other tools may even come to mind that are missing now that I think about it. I`m the type of person that thinks clearer when he`s pissed. Ask the telephone company. lol I already told the insurance guy on the phone, "The policeman was there for 5 minutes and expected me to give him everything that was missing? I might have missed a few things." I`m sure I did.
