:worried:

Is he breathing? BTW, how old is he, dear?

The banging on the cage and not moving is uh, not good ...

You're just NOT having good luck for the past few weeks, poor angel :bigkiss:

Well he normally he pops his head up when we bang but he is still. I also looked for breathing but I couldnt really tell.He is only about 2 years old.

just coat him in some elmers glue in a nice pleasant pose. Your kids probably wont notice any difference for 3 or 4 years, that way. Only kidding. I'm sorry your hampster is dead ( or very, very, very sleepy, as the case may be).

Some times he just lays in his cage without covering himself in his shavings. If he were dead wouldnt his eyes be open?

You're gonna have to take the plunge, you don't want the kids to find him

Take the lid off the cage and blow on him (like blowing out a candle). If he doesn't raise his head then he's probably  or headed there (you wanna blow on him first because sick hammies have a tendency to bite first and ask questions later, so if he feels REALLY crummy he might be ignoring you but might nip if you try to touch him).

If he still doesn't move you gotta touch the little bugger, see if he's alive.

Two is kind of young for a hammie to pass away, they usually last until 4 or so, but rodents can be fragile, damdest things can take 'em out.

OMG!!! His eyes open? No, not necessarily. Check to see if he has a little fan going in there I guess...lol

If he was hot he would be panting/visibly breathing, and he would respond to stimulus (plus he would be drinking a LOT). They can take a lot more heat than humans, anyway.

If he was cold he would burrow into/under something and could go into a deep sleep/semihibernative state.

I actually bred these stupid things (russian dwarfs) years ago ... I prefer rats.

Or just make Needto deal with it

LOL...I'm sorry I'm laughing. Damn, I can't quit.

Why don't you call him on his phone?

I'll say a little prayer for him at Sunday service this weekend. What's his name?

Glad to hear he's alive. They don't live but about 3 years I think.

My daughter had a hamster and it got out of his cage and we couldn't find him forever. Well, one day I needed to use my wet vac and when I opened the area where the dirt falls to, I found the hamster all dried up and dead. He crawled up the tube like it was a habatrail tube and fell in to the drum - couldn't get out. I didn't tell my daughter I found him like that for years after. It was really sad :worried:

I just wanted him because he was cute. Before we got the cat we would take him out of his cage all the time and let the kids play with him. we put him in one of those hamster balls and let them roll him around the house.
I guess the kids find him interesting to watch.
