My Gym is closing soon...

Well, as we approach the end of the semister for college kids, that means winter break, and for me that means my gym closes for 2 or 3 weeks. Right now im in the tail end of a cutting phase, which is why I'm so worried about not lifting. I've been cutting since October and will be cutting until my gym opens up again, and will begin bulking at the beginning of the next semister Jan 9th. My problem is, what can i do to keep on the muscle for the 2 or 3 weeks that i don't have a gym available while i continue to lose bodyfat. I have 50 lbs of adjustable dumbells at my home, and a friend of mine recommended pilates. I'm not sure if thats gonna cut it though. any help much appreciated

If each dumbel weighs 50lbs then you can do lots of good stuff:

One arm snatches
Dumbel Clean and Press
Seated Dumbel presses
Arm Curls
Pullovers (try holding one in each hand - OUCH)
Tricep Extensions
One legged calf raises
Front Squats
Dumbell Jump Squats
Stiff leg deads
Lunges
Dumbell raises (front side + rear)

Bodyweight exercises:

Chins (over or underhand grip)
Press Ups (with feet elevated + clapping)
Handstand presses
Dips
Ab work
Static Contractions (like posing)

IT's not ideal but if it was then you'd never go to the gym!

Relax, eat and sleep. Two to three weeks of rest, plus a lot of holiday food, before your bulking phase can do nothing but help.

The weights aren't 50 lbs. each, its 50 lbs. total. They are the adjustable ones, so i can in theory put 50 on one, or 25 lbs on two. I've been thinking of stuff like instead of doing DB benchpresses with two DBs, doing them one arm at a time. Also, can i do stuff like that on the floor, cause it would restrict my range of motion if i did, and I don't have a bench at home. any suggestions for fixing this little problem?

You can still do:

One arm snatches
One arm Dumbel Clean and Press
One arm Seated Dumbel presses
One arm Arm Curls
One arm Pullovers
One arm Tricep Extensions
One legged calf raises
Dumbell raises (front side + rear)

Bodyweight exercises:

Chins (over or underhand grip)
Press Ups (with feet elevated + clapping)
Handstand presses
Dips
Ab work
Static Contractions (like posing)

Screw the bench presses because you dont have a bench - use your imagination for the dips - chairs, tables, etc.

WHY don't you just get a bar and another 100-200lbs of weight?

Training gear can't be THAT expensive in Europe's smallest country - can it?

((for the record, he's now changed his country from Lichtenstein to USA))

It's not as much a matter of money as it is space. I live in a very small apartment, and there is really no room for a bar. as it is i'll be moving my coffee table around to try and get room to excersize here. and for the record, I'm in America for school.

DOCH!

Me, I'd just move the table! Or just find another gym and get a 2 week pass or 6 day passes for the two weeks. Plan the two weeks out ahead of time so that you can visit the gym on non-holday days...

I ran into a similar situation when I was on vacation for a week. I went to a local gym and paid the daily rate which was kind of high. Because of the high price, I did just two work outs in the week, but I made them good ones and I made them count! You could possibly do something similar -- just do two very tough work outs per week to get you through the break.

i agree the 2 weeks of rest will be beneficial to your training...

when i first read the title, i thought your gym was closing for good... that always stinks... i've gone through that already... :(
