THIS IS WHAT YOUNG WOMEN DO! I did it, my daughter in law did it. In fact, every woman I know that has a good relationship with her mother talks to her about her marriage (and her best friends, as well).

You need to stop expecting women to act like men. Women have an altogether different psyche. They talk about things and it's best that men don't concern themselves with what women talk about, seriously.

Ask any man whose been married for more than a few years and you'll hear the same thing.

If you go resenting the relationship between your girlfriend and her mother, all you end up doing is making her resentful of YOU.

My mom and I are very very close. But the only time i'll discuss relationship problems with her is when things are clearly going south and I'm about to give him the boot. When I'm committed, I don't share anything with family or friends that could put my S.O. in a bad light.

I respectfully disagree.. Ppl change all the time. Or at least they should strive for change. What is moral to me now is certainly different then when I was younger. My personality now, is also quite different then it was even 10 years ago. Some things stay the same and some things change...

Let's not paint everyone w/ the same brush.

What I meant was that you cannot MAKE anyone change. You're correct, it normal and healthy to change, grow and evolve and in fact, unnatural to remain static. For myself, I've found that as I get older my opinions have gotten much, how to say, grayer? Softer?

I've never been terribly black and white to begin with but anymore I really do try to see the world through another person's eyes and let go of as much judgementality as possible (at least IRL, on message boards I confess to getting impish at times).
