She agreed to give me my shots last month and everything has been going well with it. I went over the proceedures with her a few times and she sure seemed to have a solid grasp on the concept.
Last Sunday she was giving me my shot (glute), I can't reach around; I am talking her through it and go through the aspiration, etc. I then told her to go ahead and start pushing it.
About 1/2 way through the shot 1 1/2cc I started to feel very strange and then realized I was going to black out. I told her I was going down and to pull out the syringe.
Next thing I know I am waking back up, did not know where I was and my neck was killing me for some reason. Turns out I was on the floor having convultions for about 10sec or so until I snapped out of it. Then I proceeded to lay there and sweat like a hog for 20 min and felt sick to my stomach.
Turns out she did not understand that you could not move the pin after aspirating
I know I went over that with her but whatever, it happened.
I am not scared of pins and have had lots of shots and this has never happened to me so I am quite sure the sauce went into a vein.
She was freaking out when I came to again and I told her that I was going to be OK and to calm down.
I still had 1/2 of my shot waiting for me so I put another pin on the syringe and talked her into doing it again. I explained to her what happened and that she should never move the syringe after aspirating. She gave me the rest of the shot no problem and she is still OK with me saucing but it did take some convincing from me to have her agree.
Anyway I guess the purpose of this post is to make damn sure whoever is giving you your shots knows EXACTLY how to do it. This freaked me out pretty good but it was a lesson learned!
