It seems I am having freon issues and GE won't care until Wednesday. There goes about $100 worth of fish, chicken, eggs and some other stuff.

Wonderful. F*** ing wonderful.

Just thought I'd share.

Better start eating.

Invite a few EF'ers over and you can kill half of that.

Well come on over. The grill's runnign & cooking as much as I can. I'm gonna have to stash a bunch of stuff in the fridge at work. Shit.

Yeah, ice chest and ice. Also if youre fridge is older alot of times dirty coils on the back can cause that. Try cleaning all the dust that cakes up on them and see if that helps. I assume it is older since they havent made freon fridges for a long time, its all CFC free nowadays.

Thats GE for you, when I was in HS after school, I worked for a big appliance store as customer service and GE compressors in fridges went bad all the freaking time. And then the customers would get the royal runaround from GE which ending up making my life miserable b/c of it. I would never buy their products after all that, I hope you have better luck with them.

omygosh that is terrible. Its only 3 months old.... You should be able to put in a claims for all your food lost.

If you had bought an extended warranty you would have gotten food spoilage coverage.

After a frantic drive thru the rain to a couple diff grocery stores I got $20 worth of dry ice & two awesome () styrafoam coolers. That'll last for a few days anyway. I'll be calling GE up tomorrow to tell them to bring a new fridge.

Your homeowner's insurance might cover food lost....

Do you have a chest freezer?? But sounds like you got it covered.... KNow how you feel, my fridge did the same thing 2 days B4 Thanksgiving....

Homeowner's will cover it but then that'll be one claim against her. They'll cancel her policy for doing that stuff in a hurry. Then she'd be up a creek. Homeowners will cover almost anything but should only be used for very big losses as the average person doesnt make claims with it. If you start using it like that then theyll drop you sure as shinola.

Really?? I have 2 claims against mine -- lost/stolen camera & 1 for damage to my house when my roof leaked.... still have them for insurance...

They still use freon, it is just environmentally friendly freon. Freon 12 was nasty with the ozone layer so I replaced the 12 in my van with.........something less effective but far more environmental.

It is quite hard to get Freon 12 these days. Good thing.
