Well, i'm down here in florida with my dad...he had some bussiness stuff to take care of down in miami. After we stayed there for the night we drove down to duck key. The hotel here is really nice. I went to thier fitness center today...and had a cool experience.

They had only dumbells and these cybex machines. I've never seen anything like them. Its startrek shit i sware. They are so weird looking. I would have honestly no idea what they are for if they didn't have a little description on them. I was expecting some sort of halogram.

No barbells or plates so i did my speed bench workout like this:

incline db presses with elbows tucked in palms facing each other
40s 3x10 fast exposive reps

Incline db extensions
20s 3x10 fast

Db rows...they only had up to 60lb dumbbells. And they felt lighter than my 60ers when i use them in my garage. Needless to say i felt like the shit using the biggest dumbells even though they are only 60 rofl.
4x10

Seated db cleans
5lbs 3xhigh reps

facepulls with the CYBEX latpulldown machine, captain kirk style
high reps

snuck in a little cybex chest press for fun and to get a little pump before i went outside by the pool
100lbs 2x15
after doing these i felt like i had more chest than i sunked pirate ship massive gunz style

It was cool lifting with other people around. I feel more focused and even more intense. This was my first time lifting in a public place and i sorta liked it. I was actually nervous going in at first

why is t3c typing all of this you say? I don't really know...pretty bored here...gonna go out in a few minutes probably. If someone typed all this and i read it all i would be like damn this guy owes me 5 minutes of my life back. So i guess i'm sorry.

I had a similar experience at a spa in Palm Springs...I didn't want to miss a workout because I was on vacation...that startrek shit was useless to me!

Sounds like the "gym" my company has available. But the DB's here go all the way up to 90lbs!!

Only had to work out in there twice so far.

People do look at you funny when you use the heaviest DB's available.:D

Glad you had a good workout!!

However, if I trained at that gym I bet I couldn't get a pump from the strange atmosphere. If the place looks like a hotel lobby, a club with plants, chrome dumbbells, and the lack of barbells. . .I would be up a creek.

I would shrink if I trained at that gym.

No such thing :D

I've trained at my high school in a dungeon, hole in the wall style gym, which was quite "hardcore" as far as high school gyms go.

I've also trained at sissy machine and dumbbell based appartment and hotel gyms.

I've trained at my university gym, which is basically a good standard commerical gym.

Now I train at home with a power rack and barbell.

I've trained the hardest and made the best gains at high school (though they were when I was a beginner) and at home. Both of these were the "best" two environments, as far as I am concerned. Sure, where you train SHOULDN'T have any influence on your results providing you're doing all the right things yourself. However, it does seem to...

you're right. me too

the space ship stuff makes it very limiting...no Squats, DL's or anything else remotely fun for me to do in there...although I did happen to manage with some dumbbells.

my HS gym was pretty cool...lots of power racks and plates to really get a good workout in...plenty of DB's too. If you have the basics, it's really up to you to have a good workout. Fancy machines were never my preference anyhow...

If I needed to train and I walked into a place with plants, couches, televisions, blinds, chrome dumbbells, space aged equipment, and other artsy fartsy stuff. . . .I would walk right out the door and not even train. A place that resembles a dentist office is no place for me to train.

Thats how I honestly feel.

Well, I assure you it wasn't a great workout, but I left drenched with sweat! I had to justify my night out on the town...burn the calories in advance!:drink2:
