you should give them a shot, if not for the tremendous growth they can induce, simply for the sake of shaking up your training. you can't not recognize the fact that this exercise recruits as many muscles as a squat if not more. there is no better trap builder and yes that includes shrugs.
somebody told me(forgot who) that you don't do them because they are extremely hard and taxing.

Anyway... I did deads today 500 for 10 (with wraps, I hate flip grip!) for my last set. My waist ballooned up to 75 inches... I think AAP is right.![]()

Seriously, I get the same, if not better results by doing hypers, reverse hypers and a shitload of shrugs. Use the hypers/rev hypers to build the lower erectors and then shrugs to hit the lower traps that tie in with them.
