well started my back work out today, started with bent over rows. Next went to do Dead Lifts get half way thru 1st set and wham backs shot. So i take the weights off the bar put everything up, hurting pretty good now.. But here i go i say fuck it and go do my seated pulldowns lower back feeling really good. i decide i better stop so i get up to go to the locker room, about fell to my knees, great so now i hobble like a 80 year old man with polio. Limp my ass to the car get home go to school the whole time i feel like i'm gonna die, never hurt like this before in my life needless to say i'm going to the doctor tomorrow to see whats wrong.. whish me luck i really don't want to be out of the of the gym long it's my life ya know.

My belt snapped in the middle of a heavy deadlift one time and I couldnt feel my legs for a little bit. Talk about scary. My back tightened up and I was in some serious pain for about 2 weeks straight. Even with some heavy pain killers and muscle relaxants. I worked out parts other than back always with a belt on no matter what I was doing . But it was tender for a few months man. You gotta be careful with the back. Good luck. I feel your pain.

drop some lbs. of BFAT.....20%????

After having a break like that, I usually go the gym and train lightly for the first time (just to stretch them out and get them going)--and even at how I train lightly they are still sort of sore the next day. This is just hte first day of a workout program, that this happens. After about a few days, my body is able to handle an intense program (failure happening between 6-10 reps, and 3 different exercise for each muscle group, at 5 sets each).

After a long break of not working out, doing each set to failure renders me immobile the next day.

What is it with alot of guys here thinking 20% is uber high or something. I am 17-18% at 5'8 1/2", 209lbs and I'm not chubby. I'm smooth with a little chub, but not chubby.

I think 20% at 6'3", 250lbs ain't bad at all.

Some guys naturally carry a little more bodyfat. I feel healthy where I'm at, but definitely don't have abs showing. 3 months on a cutting diet would solve it easy enough, but I'll wait until I'm like 250lbs before I worry about that.

I would guess this guy feels the same way. Not everyone has to be sub 15% at all times or lower.

20% bf is fat for a body builder. In fact it's very fat. It's not hard to get to 10-15% and keep it there all the time. What's gonna happen when you bulk? You're gonna go to 30% bf? If i were you i would worry about getting the fat off now, not when you're 250. If you wait you'll be in for a big suprise on just how hard and stubborn your fat will be to get off, not to mention how much of it there will be in the first place. Start cutting NOW, got down to 15% at the most and stay there.

20% is moderate to high for bf% for a normal person! Look at the charts.
We don't know what Steves current goals are though.. so we shouldn't pass judgement.
On the back thing. I had an similar experience last year. I decided it was time to stop screwing around and never skip squatting, dead lifts or bent over rows. I started experiencing serious growth... it was amazing. I felt great!
One day... while squatting I cheated with my form a little bit... BAM... I had pain like I had never even heard of about belt high on my spine. I could barely move... walking hurt, sitting hurt and laying down hurt. In my wisdom I thought to myself "you fucking pussy... stop being a bitch, sleep on it and get back in here tomorrow".
Thats what I did... kept deadlifting, squatting etc until I couldn't walk. My parents had to carry me to the car and take me to the emergency room. They sent me to a spine specailist who took xrays and an mri.
The result... I have degenerative disk disease. Apparently I have had it my whole life. I have slowly been grinding down my bottom two disks. They are both almost gone now. Working out helped and hindered my progress. Strengthening the back muscles is important... cheating though, ground them down faster!
I can no longer squatt, dead lift, do bent over rows etc but I am still in the gym. Shit happens I guess.
My point is... don't fuck around with your back. You don't know what it is. It could be serious now or could be later if you don't take care of it! Get to the hospital and I would further recomend going to a specialist for a second opinion. Worse case scenario is you spent a few extra bucks and you are fine...
Good Luck
