oh god... this is bad. First 3-4 days of spring is always worse.

But.... when I lived in Atlanta, it was the the first 7-8 weeks. And they crippled me then. I went to numerous doctors since I was 15 trying to find a way to overcome them. Went through the allergy shot treatment thing (18 months, 8 shots per week.) Back then, I would literally just lay down and die from my eyes and nose running so badly.

However, after trying every single medication on the market a doctor told me to take Chlotrimetap (sp?) and it HAD to be the 4 hour kind. Little round blue-ish pill. And I HAD to take it right before going to sleep. I mean literally swallow the pill and put my head on the pillow. And the pill was designed for day use... go figure. The 8 hour, 12 hour, etc.. pill would not work. Had to be the 4 hour blue one.

Moving to S. Florida was the best thing I ever did. Now I don't have to take anything.

This is sole reason (not really) I love visiting my parents.........

I just bought a place in Highland Beach..........so at least for some of the year I won't have to suffer.......

They say the air quality in St. Louis, and seasonal allergies, are worse than anywhere in the country.......something having to do with the Mississippi and the Missouri River's.........

i had terrible trouble with allergies when i was younger but they have all but gone away the past few years. for a while i was taking prescription drugs, first seldane, then claritin, then allegra with flonase, all of which really helped. now i just take on occasion.

AAP i don't know what medications you are referring to when you say blue pills. if you have not tried allegra it is pretty effective along with flonase. both are sold by presciption and covered by insurance. good luck

The snow is all melted now, so the wet grass and leaves are giving off mold spores like mad around here. I'm getting back on the Claritin tomorrow morning.

My allergies are so BAD right now, I'm at the point I just want to be knocked out.
Monday, sinuses were so bad, my upper teeth hurt!

I think I am in the pollen capital of the world......

I tried that and every other Rx med.... you name it... Sudafed, Claritin, etc... and nothing worked. The little blue pill is 4 hour Chlortrimetap (SP?). It is OTC. Just look for it in the allergy section.

I think I will try that Chlortrimetap. I'll try anything LOL. Allergies can really bring ya down. Make you feel very fatigued all the time. It really does suck. I feel ya AAP.

Remember take it BEFORE bed. I mean, right before your head hits the pillow.

In Atlanta, the streets, your house and your car would all have a yellow film on it from March to June.

had a bad sinus infection about 3 weeks ago, got that almost cleared up and got ear infection from the drainage, fluid on the eardrum is a bitch, felt like i was talking out of a 55 gallion drum. anyway after several shots and 2 bottles of antibotics im better now.

you had no luck with allegra AAP? how bout one of the prescription inhalants, like flonase? boy these worked wonders for me.

when you are buying OTC, be sure you are buying antihistamiones, not decongenstants. they are easy to confuse.

antihistamines are meant to dry you out and used for allergies. this may control your runny nose and itchiness. a common brand is benadry but you can buy the store brand for a lot cheaper. look for the active ingredient diphenhydramine (sp).

decongestants are for stuffiness like when you have a cold. the are sort of speedy and often contain ephedra. sudafed is a decongestant unless they have an antihistamines.

i always hated OTC antihistamines. they make me feel all dry and uncomfortable and did not do anything to help my allergies.

springtime in Atlanta would if you have allergies. I don't and the pollen still kills me. My sister is basically allergid to dust.
