Muscle Swelling

I switched my routine from higher reps (12,10,8) to lower reps with higher weights (10,8,6). I don't "feel as big" coming out of the gym, my muscles aren't swollen like they were with the higher reps. Is this normal?

A pump does not define growth. I also don't think that going 2 reps lower, from 12 to 10, is going to make that much of a difference.

I agree.

could be that you are not getting enough work time out of your muscles. By all means, go up in weight, but do not sacrifice higher weights for lower reps, thus less work. I've seen people working out that go high in weights, but throw them up so fast for so many reps and feel so proud of themselves, that very little work through the full range of motion was accomplished. The heavier weights should be progressively attained. your lack of "feel" may be due to a lack of overall intensity.

Sometimes I notice the same thing. I have a habbit of going all heavy sets low reps first then doing one or 2 sets 10 to 15 reps to get a good burn. I may be messing everything up by doing that but I really get a good burn that way. Its worth a shot!

Even though I wasn't feeling it yesterday I am sore today. I worked out my back and it hasn't been this sore in a while so I guess its a good thing.
