Why do I never see anything above 128bps????

am i missing something (other than my penis, which i seem to have misplaces. i had a dream my penis was detachable the other night. wierd stuff. must be the ambien talking)

Long Answer:

128kbps is usually the standard meaning "Near CD Quality" i.e. virtually impossible for the untrained, inexperienced ear to tell even the slightest difference.

Encoding higher takes longer and uses up more disk space for a difference that few people will notice.

What I hate is fuckers who encode at 64-96kbps because they are lazy and have small hard drives. Damn them to hell.

128 is the highest bitrate that morpheus or kazaa allows. That's why I don't download mp3's from there. I can tell a difference. My min is 160 but I like 192. I have to get mine from winmx.

I usally get 128 but sometimes 192. I remember when Napster was still there, I used to get 256 and even 320, even if I couldnt tell the damn difference........ lol

if you use audiogalaxy, you can choose the bitratre of the song you are downloading. and there will be a much better chance that it is online.

I've downloaded several mp3s that are 192k. I guess it depends on the source you download from.

I DL from Audio Gallaxy. And in my car when i blast it i can tell a difference between 128 and 192. But if all of ya'll are listening to your MP3's on your computer than know you won't tell a difference. But if you have a system then you can tell a big difference.

I'm encoding mp3's all the time and even at 128 you can tell the difference mostly in the highs department. The high hats don't come out as crisp as I usually want them too as well and a lot of ambient sounds just don't sound right.

as for why u don't find anything above 128... I think it's been taken care of.
