Mormons, You don't have to be afraid of black people anymore.

DBG, I know you said there was not place in the BoM where it talks about black people like me, are you sure? have you come across some scripture to exlain my being. Its hard to have faith in a religion that fails to account for my existence ya know.

Thats why I had to turn to the explanations from your church leaders instead of scripture, but to be honest I always thought if I got into heaven I wouldn't be a servant. I had a different idea of what heaven would be.

You have to understand the origin of the people in the Book of Mormon.

At the beginning of the book, Lehi, a Hebrew, takes his family and leaves Jerusalem under the guidance of God because Babylon is about to destroy it. The Bible speaks of this destruction (Jeremiah).

They then travel to "The promised land" which we know today to be the western hemisphere, the americas. The group of people is the beginning of all the people talked about in the book.

The book is an account of God's dealings with only a certain group of people descended from the people that fled Jerusalem, therefore it does not speak about other people like Africans, Asians or europeans (gentiles).

The book itself is an additional volume of scripture that supports the Bible, it does not replace it.

We hold the Bible and Book of Mormon both as canonized scripture and use both regularly for spiritual enlightenment.

Our religion recognizes the origin of the African race as it is explained in the Old Testament in the Bible.

Does that answer your question?

Actually, there were many things that he got unmistakably correct as well that were a total shot in the dark, so it's not a cut and dry argument that the Book of Abraham is incorrectly translated or altogether a fraud.

In fact, if you studied and understood the english translation itself and dissected topics and passages, you would find that the literature is unmistakably of hebrew origin. Yes, hebrew, not egyptian. The descriptions of visions and such are unmistakably described in hebrew manner of speaking, and uses ancient hebrew modes of expression that are completely absent in english. Since it was supposedly written by a hebrew, writing in egyptian characters, this makes sense.

Equally, ancient hebrew poetic expressions are common in the Book of Mormon. Chiasmus mode is found in the book of mormon, and an entire chapter is written in it, which happens to be one of the longest and most complex examples of a chiasm ever known. Since the Book of Mormon people were a branch of migrated hebrews, this makes sense.

There are things people like to point out that would suggest that he was a fraud. The fact is, there are many many things that he did that proved him legit as well. His scriptural writings, however heavily criticized, have actually held up to the criticism and there are also many things that prove that his writings/translations are unmistakably inspired.

Considering the golden plates exist nowhere for us to see or study the hieroglyphs that were supposedly translated, how does one say he got some things unmistakably correct? Or incorrect in Bino's case.

I just don't understand how you can tell me there's proof the translations are unmistakably of Hebrew origin or correct or inspired. How? What proof?

And I'm not trying to be an ass, I'm honestly curious. Because my great grandma was born in the 1800s and I own some of her jewelry, but a supposedly invaluable holy text engraved on tablets is missing? That warrants skepticism beyond what I think can be proven without them, which is about nothing.
