More computer drama (LOL - Jnuts stop smiling)

I have a Dell tech (or rather someone representing Banctec for Dell) coming to me tomorrow to look at my laptop (I told Dell I was done with their over the phone tech support and being that I paid for the service I asked them to send someone to me)

I've already had it looked at by a local computer shop while I had a "snapshot" of the hard drive made and they have assessed the problem to be the motherboard - oddly enough I had gotten the same response on a computer forum 4 months ago.

Should be interesting to see what happens since they keep telling me it's the OS.

now I see why you are looking into MACs.

I'm a "computer guy" but sometimes even a simple issue can drive me insane and I just go out and get a new machine.

For $850 I got a sweet 4 ghz dual core AMD machine with 2 GB of RAM, 320 GB Hard drive, DVD burner, the works!

I took off my bra about 20 minutes ago to let the girls free, it's kinda weird that you ask such a question.

I also left the office early because it was just a day from hell and every action made a received made it worse.

So right now I am at home on my desktop (just waiting for this thing to blow up too) paying my bills fr the month.

I also drank a beer when I got home.

It's just ONE of those days.

Don't stop there...what kind of top? jeans or shorts?

so your on the computer doing bills topless while drinking a beer.

OMG.

Dell did a great job for us the past 4 years, but seems the systems we have purchased lately have had issue after issue. Not sure whats going on with them.

It was the beer wasn't it?
I have to confess it was really good - I'll pay for it later but MY GOD it was good and ice cold going down.

it was the thought of the boobies. bring the boobie avator back. :p what kind of beer?

BOOBS!

They are on the computer that will not boot...

The tech finally came and confirmed it has a bad motherboard - *snicker* - 3 hours of traffic to tell me in 2 minutes what I already knew. I felt bad for the guy - he's gonna have a long drive out of here.

He said a lot of things most of which he asked to keep off the record which I will do but he confirmed everything I already knew.

I'm just glad I copied my hard drive because it seems I'll need a new one of those too...

So I just wanted to thank everyone that listened to all my kvetching about this computer....

:rose:

Macs are only good if your into graphics and such.. They blow the IBMs away in that aspect! Never had a problem with my dell(laptop) must be lucky.. 3 years and still going strong..knock on wood!

I never had problems until my last two Dells - I've had 4 since 98...
It's unfortunate that the quality and customer support had dropped so but at the same time it could be any manufacturer with such a problem.

Their customer support is expensive as hell too.. They tried to sell me a 3 year package, I declined.. I have friends that fix computers, so if mine ever went down, I would just take it to them.. Ive had to have it reformatted once. My norton missed a virus, and I had no choice.. It literally messed my whole lap top up..175 bucks!

You ain't married yet. Can I drive up to New York and get some action before you take that dreaded plunge? ;)

Not to be rude or anything, but I never got those pictures you never said you'd e-mail to me. Just wondering what happened with those. Send them to my hotmail account. Thanks so much!

that used to be the case... unfortunately, only reason to use a mac now is if your software is only made for mac. The hardware options are identical, coreduo/core2duo... just like dell. Only reason to pay for a mac now is b/c their laptops just have a nicer form factor than most windows notebooks.

Most of the self-proclaimed intellects you see running around with new macs are just starbucks jockies trying to associate with an image they actually nternalize as original...

You got a granny who can't face the idea of learning Linux or BSD, then OS X is a painless way to get the benefits of the Unix underpinnings. Saying that the move to Intel makes a Mac "identical" to a Windoze box is just wrong, wrong, wrong.

Vista is out in beta now; I'm going to put it on a spare box in my copious free time (yeah right) but the early indications are that it's just more of the same old Redmond crap that's been providing the infrastructure for Internet-killing zombieware.
