I do recall watching them shut down their opponents all through the playoffs and crush whichever team they played in the SB and seeing them flounder the next year. They seemed rock-solid in defence.

I've heard of them as my spouse lived in Iowa at that time and was a Bears fan. I started watching NFL football the year of the Bengals - 49ers Superbowl. I always felt sorry for Esiason after that. Does anyone remember the Icky Shuffle?
