Modified 5x5?

I would suggest getting other hobbies. :) Don't burn yourself out.

this. on off days, if you want to be active, go biking, hiking, take up a sport, etc.
 
Yeah I lift on M,W,F and wonder if it is okay that I do climbing on T and Th. My climbing coaches thought it was alright as long I was careful, but not sure. If ou want to work out 5x a week on 5x5, try doing an ab, sprinting day on Tuesdays and Thursday, or a dreaded cardio workout those days.
 
So this wont affect strength gains? I might do 1-2hrs basketball on tuesday and thursday for cardio.

If you don't overdo it and get adequate rest and nutrition (including hydration), no. Fun way to get cardio too.
 
I agree. If you CAN recover then go for it. Just keep track of your numbers etc. It is tough to do strength programs that are demanding and then throw alot of other activities at your body. People wonder how I lifted so much. It was all I did. My coach engrained the idea that to grow and get stronger I wore only THAT HAT. Trying to be the guy that can dunk, cage fight, bench 600 and run a 4.5 forty is NOT happening.

Yea true that or else it will take years to get there. I do eventually wanna be a sick athlete while being able to bench 405 and dunk, and have a little MMA experience :)

SO no lifting on the 5x5 got it
