MMA Diet -- Suggestions...

So I'm fighting Feb 9th, and I need to cut to 155 (from 175). I want to keep all of my muscle obviously. What should I be eating? I've never done a diet before. How do I go about building a good diet?

I'd appreciate any help I can get, thanks

Well, you have a bunch of time so I'd do it somewhat slowly..replace your current foods with clean, whole foods such as:

yams
potatoes
whole wheat pasta
oats
greenish vegetables
chicken
lean beef
lean turkey

healthy fats (nuts, fish oil, olive oil, flax seed, etc)

make sure you have a relative idea of how much energy you expend as that will determine how much you eat. Training for various forms of fighting is intense, so keep that in mind when determining those caloric needs..

I'd say don't dip below 2500..and be easy on extra cardio if you are hitting bags, jumping rope, running, etc within your current training

What time is the weigh in? Same day or the day before? Is the max for the weight class 155?

20 pounds is 11% of your bodyweight. I'm assuming as a fighter ur in good condition, and probably have b.f., 8-12. I hate to say it but if your b.f., is below 15, 155 is not going to happen without losing LBM

Same day, 3:30, fight is at 7:00. Yes, 155 is.

Thanks all,
Alex

Well then it's a bit harder. If you have fat to lose, it's very doable. Just cut out all the shit in your diet (sugar, processed carbs, junk food, pizza etc.) and eat less than what you currently eat. Keep protein intake high and eat carbs around the times you train. You should be losing about a pound a week, if you don't just eat less.

Yeah, I have fat to lose. I've never been on a diet, so I've never ate well. I'm in good shape, but I certainly could stand to drop 20. So should I be eating 6 times a day? I'm completely new to diets, so if someone could lay out a simple one for me, I'd really appreciate it.

Well there are lots of diets, you have to do some reading. Eating 6 times a day is good for appetite control, that's what I do. Very basic diet: Protein intake: 1.5 per pound of lean body weight, fat: 0.5 per pound of lean body weight and adjust the carb intake according to your body type, training intensity and the fat loss rate.

Curious, would the ANPB diet at the top (Mr. X) work? I love the sound of ANPB, I eat loads every day lol

If I do the math right, losing 2 pounds a week, I'd have lost around 24 pounds by my fight. Is there a way to boost the 2 pnds to more a week using the ANPB diet?

The diet is ketogenic and just ANPB and whey.

I doubt it is compatible with your training needs
