Mitt Romney to select Paul Ryan as running mate

Short answer, pretty much yes. He's a very conservative, Roman Catholic.

He's extremely anti abortion. Actually voted against having crimes against gays declared hate crimes. Doesn't believe prisoners deserve any form of assistance once they get out of prison, doesn't believe in rehab programs for current prisoners. Is against medical marijuana and medically assisted suicide.

Here's what I don't get ... everyone wants "government to be smaller" and it's ALWAYS people who want to get up in your personal business (gayness, abortions, marijuana use) who want it. Smaller government, but nosier, I guess :whatever:

All politicians want bigger government. The only difference is which parts of government they want bigger and which freedoms they want restricted. Your Saint Obama is certainly no exception.

In which ways are Mormons wackier? And please tell me you did not just judge strictly from the south park episode. Mormons can be stupid, but also some of the kindest people I know. With exceptions, just like everyone and everything. So I'm curious why you are bashing Mormons?

Take your pic:

  • God was once a man like us.
  • God has a tangible body of flesh and bone.
  • God lives on a planet near the star Kolob.
  • God ("Heavenly Father") has at least one wife, our "Mother in Heaven," but she is so holy that we are not to discuss her nor pray to her.
  • Jesus was married.
  • We can become like God and rule over our own universe.
  • There are many gods, ruling over their own worlds.
  • Jesus and Satan ("Lucifer") are brothers, and they are our brothers - we are all spirit children of Heavenly Father
  • Jesus Christ was conceived by God the Father by having sex with Mary, who was temporarily his wife.
  • We should not pray to Jesus, nor try to feel a personal relationship with him.
  • The "Lord" ("Jehovah") in the Old Testament is the being named Jesus in the New Testament, but different from "God the Father" ("Elohim").
  • In the highest degree of the celestial kingdom some men will have more than one wife.
  • Before coming to this earth we lived as spirits in a "pre-existence", during which we were tested; our position in this life (whether born to Mormons or savages, or in America or Africa) is our reward or punishment for our obedience in that life.
  • Dark skin is a curse from God, the result of our sin, or the sin of our ancestors. If sufficiently righteous, a dark-skinned person will become light-skinned.
  • The Garden of Eden was in Missouri. All humanity before the Great Flood lived in the western hemisphere. The Ark transported Noah and the other survivors to the eastern hemisphere.
  • Not only will human beings be resurrected to eternal life, but also all animals - everything that has ever lived on earth - will be resurrected and dwell in heaven.
  • Christ will not return to earth in any year that has seen a rainbow.
  • Mormons should avoid traveling on water, since Satan rules the waters.
  • The sun receives its light from the star Kolob.
  • If a Gentile becomes Mormon, the Holy Ghost actually purges his Gentile blood and replaces it with Israelite blood.
  • A righteous Mormon will actually see the face of God in the Mormon temple.
  • You can identify a false angel by the color of his hair, or by offering to shake his hand.

How much of this were you really confident about being accurate? Probably all of it, lmao. SMH.

Take your pic:

  • God was once a man like us.

True. God's reason for us being here was to have us progress and become like him. He became the way he is by doing what we are doing now.

  • God has a tangible body of flesh and bone.

True. Luke Chpater 24. The ressurected Jesus has a body of flesh and bone. God likewise is of the same perfect form. Perfectly logical.

  • God lives on a planet near the star Kolob.

True. He's gotta live somewhere. We live on a planet closest to a star called "Sun". Whoa, crazy, right?

  • God ("Heavenly Father") has at least one wife, our "Mother in Heaven," but she is so holy that we are not to discuss her nor pray to her.

True. Everyone has a father AND a mother. Why should our heavenly parents be different?

  • Jesus was married.

True. God commands everyone to marry and "multiply and replinsh the earth". Jesus was no exception. The first person he appeared to after the ressurection was a woman....

  • True. We can become like God and rule over our own universe.

"Is it not written that ye are gods?" "We shall become heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ."

  • There are many gods, ruling over their own worlds.

This is merely theological speculation, although I don't discount it.

  • Jesus and Satan ("Lucifer") are brothers, and they are our brothers - we are all spirit children of Heavenly Father

What's wacky about that? Satan was a spirit creation of God, so are all of us. That makes us brothers by family relationship to the father. Completely logical.

  • Jesus Christ was conceived by God the Father by having sex with Mary, who was temporarily his wife.

Not accurate. That was never said. Jesus was concieved and is the literal seed of God, yes, but nowhere does it say that mormons belive God actually came down and banged Mary. God can make conception happen by other means.

  • We should not pray to Jesus, nor try to feel a personal relationship with him.

    1. True. e pray to Father in the name of Jesus. "Pray to the Father, always in my name"

    2. Bullcrap. He is our Savior and a personal relationship with him is very important.

  • The "Lord" ("Jehovah") in the Old Testament is the being named Jesus in the New Testament, but different from "God the Father" ("Elohim").

True. John Chapter is where JEsus claims to be I AM, so they picked up stones to kill him for claiming to be God, but he fled.

  • In the highest degree of the celestial kingdom some men will have more than one wife.

    Again, theological speculation.

  • Before coming to this earth we lived as spirits in a "pre-existence", during which we were tested; our position in this life (whether born to Mormons or savages, or in America or Africa) is our reward or punishment for our obedience in that life.

Our test was to follow Gods plan, or that of the fallen angel and his demons (satan). Being born American, "Mormon" or in Africa obviously aren't the only few options in life, don't ya think? God's reasoning for placing us at birth where he decides really isn't known for the most part. Aside from the foreordination of Prophets, we don't really know anything.

  • Dark skin is a curse from God, the result of our sin, or the sin of our ancestors. If sufficiently righteous, a dark-skinned person will become light-skinned.

Cain was cursed with dark skin, and his seed have dark skin. That doesn't mean black people are cursed by God. Your skin color doesn't change with your righteousness. This whole statement is blown WAY out of context.

  • The Garden of Eden was in Missouri. All humanity before the Great Flood lived in the western hemisphere. The Ark transported Noah and the other survivors to the eastern hemisphere.

All of humanity did not live in the west prior to the flood. That's ridiculous. Mormons have never said that. The Garden very well could have been in Missouri. Nobody knows how long it existed before Adam and Eve ate the fruit (Pangea, perhaps), and their being expelled from th egarden could have winded them up elsewhere. Once more, it's speculative. Very recent scientific findings have shown that western civilaztion dates way further back than previously thought.

  • Not only will human beings be resurrected to eternal life, but also all animals - everything that has ever lived on earth - will be resurrected and dwell in heaven.

Okay, so why's that weird? Also this is not written in our canonized scripture.

  • Christ will not return to earth in any year that has seen a rainbow.

False. LMAO, I have never heard this before in my life.

  • Mormons should avoid traveling on water, since Satan rules the waters.

False. An old wives tale. Nothing more.

  • The sun receives its light from the star Kolob.

False. Not an accurate statement according to the LDS. The sun obviously produces its own light from fusion.

  • If a Gentile becomes Mormon, the Holy Ghost actually purges his Gentile blood and replaces it with Israelite blood.

False. That's ridiculous. That is not a mormon belief.

  • A righteous Mormon will actually see the face of God in the Mormon temple.

Any righteous person can see God if he choses to appear to them. This makes it sound like any worthy man will see God in the temple all the time. Duh, not true.

  • You can identify a false angel by the color of his hair, or by offering to shake his hand.

Based upon a statement given by joseph smith, an angel of satan attempting to appear as an angel of light, which has no pysical body, will attempt to shake you rhand if you offer it and th e angel will try to decieve you by shaking you rhand, but since he is not physical, you will not feel it and you will know it is an angel of satan. An angel of God will not attempt to decieve and a ressurected being can shake your hand because his body is physical.

If such a thing were to happen, as crazy as it sounds, it makes sense.

See above. Bro you obviously don't really know much about it, do you? Just repeating stuff you have heard from ignorant people who heard something from somebody else who didn't know what they were talking about. Or posting some list of stuff from a website not associated with the church that obviously publishes false information.

You can spread misconceptions and purely fabricated stuff out of your ignorance if you wish.

Does anyone really think anything will change here? Nothing is really under Obama than it was with Bush. We got debt, no matter what we'll get more. We're still at war, probably will be in a new one sooner than later. People are still out of work and the rich are just getting richer. Nothing is going to change because for that to happen people will need to give shit up, and that's just not going to happen.

Yes, I think things will accelerate in the wrong direction with a GOP Presidency.
