Minor emergency - please help - no joke

My wife is trying to reach doctor right now. My 2yr old son got into her birth control pills thinking they were candy and ate what looks like 4 of them. There are 6 missing, 2 were found in his mouth and the other 4 are nowhere to be found. Please help.

Damn buddy. I don't think BC pills are a big deal. If poison control said that, should be OK. Can you take him to an emergency clinic or something?. I'd get a doc opinion anyways just to be sure.

I doubt there is any immediate danger, however I just checked my GF's and it says "Keep out of reach of children"

IF im not mistaken birth control is just estradiol, so it may mess up a childs endocrine system, so I would take him to a DR as soon as possible. The Doc should definatley know what the long term effects are. Hope this helps, JA. Good luck

Definitely follow up with the doctor. But try not to stress too much; a single dose of oral estrogen like that will not likely do anything. Transsexuals need to take the stuff for several months before they start to show signs of feminization.

i remember reading somewhere that some birth control pills were rendered ineffective by contemporaneous use of antibiotics.

don't know if that would help, and what the specific antibiotic was or what the mechanism was. just a start for research.

Do you guys have phone in advice clinics in the US? I will ask my friend if I can get a holf of her she is a nurse in an ER. Honestly, I think that she will be OK. I think that there is much worse things she could have gotten into, like aspirin, or your a-bombs or something. I would try to flush her out. Make her drinks a shit load of fluids, and and maybe something to flush him out from 'ze arse, like a glass of prune juice or something, just so everything flushes out of him quick. I'm sure that poison control has a list of all substances in a database, and they just looked that up. Definately keep an eye on him. I think that he is to young to have his stomach pumped or anything like that anyways. The doc would probably give him something to dilute or flush him out I would guess. Keep up posted.

He seems to be his normal into everything self this morning. I think he'll be just fine. We talked to his pediatrition and he didn't seem to be too worried about it. We thought about giving him some IPAQ which is a syrup that would make him throw up but the doctor said that was optional and wasn't necessary. Thanks for all your input. It was appreciated.

That's good you called them first. I guess my question is, how do you know for sure that the people who call themselves doctors are actually m.d.'s, etc...Unless you know them personally. They may be good bros, but how can you tell for sure.

BCP's are fairly short half lived. There should be no long term issues. in cases like these an emetic or laxative should be quickly applied (consult your physician on dosing), should something like this happen again.

children have rather poor uptake and rapid metabolic rate so clearance and impact will be less than an adult.
