I was looking to get your guys opinions on mid-life career changes. I am stuck in a rut at work and hate my job. It's very hard to even stay concentrated or motivated. That's my day job of course....my Passion with came later is fitness/nutrition industry. I have managed to go pretty far and believe if I could dedicate all my time really blow up. Problem is it still dosnt justify leaving my current job witch is great paying, insurance paid, and a pension....

Are you saying you'd like to quit a real job for trying to go pro? What are your other passions that could potentially make money?

I opened a independent 24hr fitness facility a little over a yr ago it dose great, and my wife also dose a amazing job running it. But I as well sell and wholesale supplements some my own some major brand. We do sell them in the gym as well but I sell 6 to 1 what anyone else dose there...but can't be there all the time of course. There is only a GNC in the smaller city I live in, so I possibly could ramp the supplement store up. Not to mention I've had to had outside people doing the PT at the gym if someone wanted to pay extra for it. And in many cases I've ended up having to do some of them as Noone is reliable.

^^^^^life yes, job NO. I'm sure im not the only person to get 10yrs into there job career and lose all interest, motivation, and desire in it.

How old are you?

I made several huge changes after 30 and was best thing i ever did.
What do you value more, job security, money, enjoying your work, having more time with your family? Etc
I dont value a lot of money as much as spending time with my woman, working out, motorcycles, etc

You have to really be honest with yourself and what you deem more important.

Theres no right or wrong answers, just whats right for you

You work out? And I thought I liked you

-SD- I am 31 yrs old with a wife and 2 kids. I work an average of 60 hrs a week and have for as long as I can remember. I like your response and appreciate the honest answer. I think I am going to run with that. My new title were im at requires me to find, bid, and supply work for 7 full time employees. So there is alot more stress involved and very high dollar jobs highest one i've bid being 5 million. And also stressful on time with my kids and wife. On that note.....ANYONE HIRING. LOL

Im in the same boat man. My job is so shitty now. I have accomplished everything i could. I would want to work in the fitness industry to. It would be nice because i enjoy helping people reach their goals. I would do it to if I was still single, but with a Family i just about have to put my goals on hold sometime.

^^^^^^^while that is an excellent idea and i USED to have all the tools for the job...to high of a risk with the family and all. I don't wanna room with Tyrone for 10-20.............

If you hate your current job. Figure out if it is possible to improve it. If not, look for other jobs. You have time and income, so you can be picky and wait for something great to come a long.

The second decision is more difficult. Do you risk it to try and make on your own fitness - supplement business? It's probably best to keep the steady income going until you can be more sure of a positive outcome in your own business.

Smart man, and that is what or business plan has been. My wife works it from 9-4 and i work it after my day job from 4-6 or 7. We have been building a large product base and reinvesting all money back into the gym. Its grown very fast and continues daily. But like you said having that steady income is key...at least for now as its a young business.
