i woke up a week ago with some serious back pain in my mid back. it feels really really stiff and it hurts to do flexion of my spine in that area. any ideas as to what i should do? stretching isn't helping.
thanks in advance

In my case, I have a similar problem. If I'm honest its a combination of *years* of training on a crooked chin up bar, and bad posture. If I get pain in the area I adjust my posture and that does help allot.

does it hurt to inhale?

what did you do yesterday?

it doesn't hurt to inhale... the day before i woke up with the pain, i was working doing construction. the only thing different i remember about that day working is, acouple times i picked up stuff (nothing heavy) i picked it up like i was doing a sldl just to stretch the hammies alittle bit. but that was a week ago

alot of times your body is not accustomed to that much endurance in the mid back. your spinal erectors especially. also if you twisted any, even slightly and you arent used to it from gym training you can slightly strain your trunk rotators.

Take some time off if it's bothering you that much, try some recovery techniques (AR, foam rolling or tissue massage, epsom salt bath, stretching), and come back at it when you feel ready.

If it's not better in a week or two, see about getting some films of your back to be sure you didn't fuck up your thoracic spine.

PM Walkingbeast, he fucked up his T-spine, maybe he can explain what it feels like.
