does anyone know how to get the font to type out vertically in MS word?

no, not like that.

there is no command for verticle type font, but I suppose you could make your margin one charater wide..

can I ask why?

Word Art.

Insert > Picture > Word Art

Try hightlighting what you want then going into Format>Paragraph and look for vertical somewhere. I'm not sure if it's there, but it might be there with subscript or superscript or something. I don't have Word on this pc.

actually.. you can insert a Text box, Format>Text Box

then you can chose orientation properties for the text box.
