Micellar Casien

Is this the best protein to use besides post workout? Thinking of ordering 3lbs ($10.79/lb) from The Protein factory. Will be using it in the middle of the night, and with my first meal. Should I get the straight Micellar Casien, or a 50/50 blend with Micellar Casein and Egg White Protein ($5.49/lb) ?

Get a caseine/egg white blend.....
Make sure it's flavored, othewise it'll be a nightmare to drink.

Caseinate Calcium/egg white....the calcium is the property that I think increases absorption. IMO.

Thanks, I'll ge that blend. That should be pretty slow absorbing correct? How would the absorbtion rate compare to chicken breast?

Oh, never ordered from there before...what low/no carb flavor do you prefer?

I think they call it sucralose, and I like the chocholate flavor...

The digestion rate a little faster mmol/g then chicken, I can't tell you off hard how much.

I think I may just go with their Night Formula:

25% Caseinate
25% Soy isolate
25% CFM whey isolate
25% Milk isolate

I'd replace the Soy Isolate with Egg White protein though....doesn't look bad for $6.27lb

I like the night formula, but Milk protein is the same as caseine, it's just prepared differently. Go w/ the combo you listed, just make sure to drop the soy.

$6.27 is not bad at all....

Thanks, I'll do that. This combo would be good anytime threw out the day though right (besides PW), as well as night time ?

Yup, I would replace all daily powder protein w/ it...very effective.

Not exactly. I know you're the man around here, and I like most of your advice. However, here is the rundown. Milk protein( of any form:isolate, concentrate, or pure milk) Contains app. 80% caesin protein and 20% Whey protein. So, milk protein is MOSTLY made up of caesin, but, they are not the same thing.

As you said yourself, milk protein is MOSTLY made up of caseine. So, I don't consider it much different; in fact, I don't see the claims that I've seen being made on other websites about milk protein valid either...I'll leave it at that...

Mr.X

X, do you mean the claims that say that milk is no good for humans? Or bodybuilders? I agree w/ you. I think those claims are absurd. It's a good source of carbs and slow/effecient protein for those who seek mass gains.

The only property that I would see problematic w/ milk is the sugar and lactose. But, the protein alone is probably pretty efficient. The carbs are a grey area, everyone sees them differently in the case of milk. I'm writing up an article on whey protein and caseinate. Give me about a week, I'll have it posted up here, hopefully it clears up any questions.

Is soy protein really that bad? I've read conflicting stuff about it.

Depends on your definition of 'bad': I consider estrogen bad! So, anything that induces estroge directly or indirectly, even potentially, has a no-no effect for me.
