Metal/Hard rock fans- Check this out

New Metallica might as well have a chick up there, hehe, but anyway...

If I can be brutally honest since I've spent the last two years of my life trying to break out as a reviewer (or "Scum of the Music Universe" both titles work for me) the vocals could swing you one way or the other. While the music is played expertly, I mean the guitarist shreds, it's pretty faceless compared to all the bands you're following. It's not that it isn't good, it's decent, and of course it isn't going to keep you from getting signed because I know of a few labels that would pick you up as is even without a vocalist, but I think the reason that majutsu and I ask about getting a female vox is that you need something to set yourselves apart from the pack. You guys have a plan set though, which means that you're way ahead of the game from a lot of bands that have no idea what they want to do.

Bottom line, the vocalist is what is going to make or break you guys, be it through great vox, well-written vocal melodies, or lyrics, just as long as they bring that hook. Musically, you guys have a formula to sell a bitch load of records and really blow up in the rock world.

Anyway, that's my take from the guy that listens to music all day and is trying to break into the industry. Just trying to give you my honest opinion, but hell, maybe that's why I don't have a girlfriend or can stay in a band for more than one practice.

Flah- I agree with you. We won't settle on a vocalist who will drag us down, it's only gonna be someone who will make us. We will know the right guy when we hear it.

I also work in the entertainment industry, and I know many A/R people, and they all said that every label is looking for hard rock/metal, since everyone is sick of nu-metal, grunge, and every other group out there who basically sounds exactly the same as everyone else. We have about 20 songs just as good as all of these, and our first album is gonna be one kickass fucking album, cuz there isn't gonna be one weak track on it.

And yes, we've been told we might get signed without a singer, and then have the label find one for us. I'd rather find one ourselves. Either way, the finished product is gonna be pretty damn good IMO.

first off, glad to see you have alot of pride in your music. that's key, cause you will know when things aren't up to par, and you'll work to get them to and beyond that level. this is clear with how patient you are in finding the RIGHT vocalist for the band.

while i agree with flah, that a vocalist is gonna make you or break you, i don't completely agree that it is just because you need something to set you apart. IMO, your music is already setting itself apart from the majority of the radio/tv tunes. while you openly admit to your musical influences and some of it comes through in your music, i personally feel your sound is following a distinct path from the modern hard rock and metal being played on the radio/tv (aside from a few exceptions - there always are).

so yes, as flah said, the vocals are what will make or break you guys. but i think the biggest reason for this is b/c you're not quite fitting in with the music playin on the radio now. while it's not something completely groundbreaking, it's still different (in a very good way) from what you hear daily on hard rock stations, to me anyway. but i think the biggest importance of the vocals is not necessarily to set you apart, but to catch listeners so they're not turned off by a somewhat different style than they are used to hearing. you need something to grab them, because, for whatever reason, people apparantly like what is saturating the airwaves. and god forbid some of these people hear something a little different.
