Menu planning for camping

Going camping for the first time in forever and not looking to stray off course with diet etc.

What are some good ideas of foods/tips etc to bring for meals. I don't want to get stuck eating food I will regret.

Personally, I think you should just go out and have some for a weekend. If your not inclined to do so, then are you trying to cut or bulk?

There's a lot of little things you can do. Heres a couple of ideas,
get lean hot dogs
use whole wheat buns
have oatmeal for breakfast
bring along some tuna instead of using deli meats
instead of munch on chips bring peanuts

Im thinking eggs/whites some oatmeal for breakfast
Trying to think of some crafty lunch/dinner ideas!!

Anything cooked over an open fire whilst camping makes it taste better.....bring an oven rack (yes out of your oven) to put over the fire pit for grilling - that way you can use a pan on it for the eggs & a pan or kettle to boil water for the oats....

For dinner you can make burgers or steak, foil wrapped baked potatoes or sweet potates (nuke them at home a bit to shorten cooking time), you can always bring a salad pre made in a ziploc bag or bags of veggies.....

Either eat lunch out or bring wraps if your diet allows them - there are some decent Whole wheat ones that you can make at home, roll up & wrap in foil......Nuts with some dried fruits are good on a hike....

is it possible to say - Make turkey burgers @ home (not cooked) then freeze them so less to do/make on site?

Oh yeah! Make 'em up at home then wrap them individually in plastic wrap then put them in a big baggie or a plastic container....just make sure you keep them on ice & rotate your foods in your cooler so the meats are always cold....

Jen - First thanks a lot for your help. It is important to me to make the right food/diet choices as much as possible - This is my tenative plan. Should allow for me to pre-make most things:

Friday:
Dinner -
- Grilled Chicken
- Sweet Potato
- Frozen Vegatables
Saturday:
Breakfast
Eggs/Oatmeal
Coffee/Water
Lunch
- Tuna Sandwiches
- Lentil Soup
Dinner
- Beef and vegetable kebabs
- Brown Rice
- Salad
Sunday
Breakfast
Eggs/Oatmeal
Coffee/Water
Lunch
Camp Cafe (Wish me luck LOL)
Dinner
- Turkey Burgers
- Vegatables (Zucchini/Squash/Etc)
- Salad
Monday
Breakfast
Eggs/Oatmeal
Coffee/Water

Along with some snacks, fruits, nuts, shakes, etc.

Looks like a good menu!!

A suggestion for the veggies would be to make "packets" out of foil for them, even individual ones......just put out a square of foil and spray with cooking spray then place all manner of veggies/spices & seal up..........that way you can just set them on the fire grate to heat up.....You can also pre-cook the brown rice & put them in the packet with the veggies......or precook the brown rice anyway & just heat in a pan....

Great tips thanks!

Last question I promise - So I am having problems locating a grill with stand/legs for over the fire. What do I use to hold the grill up if I can't find one? Tried searching the net but no luck.

Well if your fire pit has a ring surrounding it of either a metal ring or rocks, just bring one of the racks/grates out of your oven & wrap it in foil, then just set it on top....most campground fire pits have a surround....call the campground & ask....
