measuring BF%

alot of people seem to know their BF% exactly. Does anyone recommend something to help measure bf% like a scale or analyzer or do you have it done somewhere. I know you can use calipers, but those aren't the best to use. Just looking for somethign that you all have used and know it works well.

well equations dont work, you probably dont have access to an underwater weighing facility. unless u are in school. if you have a friend that is in the exercise phizz program they might be able to hook u up. so you are kinda left with calipers. calipers can be very accurate, just depends on the user and how skilled they are with them.

for instance

underwater weighing (hydrostatic) i was 5.3 %, and calipers i was 6%. that was on the electronic calipers with the equations built in....does the math for u

the scales seem to read me all wrong. they say i am fat and on the verge of a heart attack haha. as far as the analyzers go, i dont have too much exp w/them. I graduated in 00' from an exsci program where we learned the more traditional methods i spoke of above.

analyzers anyone, anyone.......bueller?

What type of calipers specifically were you using?

an older skyndex and baseline type skinfold caliper, not too sure of the method we used (ie jackson, lohman), had pretty accurate results. but my strength coach had the electronic. the hydrostatic wieghing and caliper results were a part of a chromium study the university was involved.

So you found the results to be fairly accurate using the calipers?
I'd like to get the hydro done when I get a little bit leaner but for now a good set of calipers should do?

yeah it isnt so much the calipers as the user or person doing the test...how many tests they have done, where they learned to do it, etc. are factors it takes a bit of practice to learn how much skin to grab. but i had .7 % variance from calipers to H2o weighing. so you should be happy w/the results of calipers.

if you have university near you contact them to see if they have submersion
body fat facility that is the most accurate
