Nope Sc4eva I didn't. It is one of the top 5 in the world if you are interested in international business studies and working in other countries.SC4EVA said:Currently doing finance.. Looking to perhaps change it though.. All the pre-reg and begining classes are the same so I have a while.. WODIN did you go to Thunderbird ?

I understand your reasoning, BUT.....I can not afford commute to a Top 10 school or afford a top 10 school.MattTheSkywalker said:If you insist on doing this, you better be going to be a top 10 school.
Finance bor. It's a good foundation for whatever you do.
SC4EVA said:The only reason why I am doing it now is b/c work will pay for it. I only graduated about 2 years so somewhat young alhtough most of the people in my classes seem pretty young too.. Yeah what is everyones feel on Management MBA? Liek I said, Im in the finance program but can easily change at any time
MattTheSkywalker said:I'm an employer.
I couldn't give a shit if it's not from a school where I know what they teach and how they teach it.
You might as well have 2 years of being a Taco Bell drive through clerk on your resume; it has more real world value than classroom nonsense from an "other than top-10" school.
And if it;s not in finance, bring your diploma in case we need toilet paper.

I have a family.collegiateLifter said:Haha save up then.
Chicago or Columbia......
or you could move to california so you could get into Haas (Berkeley) at a discount.

The Nature Boy said:how many people do you employ that are in positions that require MBA's or similar education levels/skills?
MattTheSkywalker said:have about 30 lawyers, and about ten senior insurance people (with industry designations like CPCU, this is the "insurance grad degree", CPCUs really know underwriting and advanced insurance skills). Also have 4 engineers, these guys are usually MS level.
The rest are jobs typcially filled by bachelor's degree level employees, (approx 30, degree common but not required) except for the admin and support staff, which numbers about 12; most don't have any college experience.
In the other business I have about half a dozen MDs or PhDs.
The Nature Boy said:so it seems you don't have any MBA's. correct?
ttlpkg said:I got my MBA with the Finance concentration. Lots of employment options to include Financial Advisor, Financial Analyst, Broker, Manager, Sales, etc.
Lumberg said:Yeah but what do you do with it!?!?!
To me an MBA (I have a Master's in Finance which is basically the same thing) is useful only if you know you're going to use the knowledge (like say your family owns a business that could be grown and made more efficient). Getting an MBA on spec is not the way to go (the way getting a law degree or medical degree pretty much guarantees you a job).
Even a CS degree or an Engineering degree is more useful than an MBA IMO.

beastboy said:I have a Bachelor's in Engineering....in order to advance, some type of financial, marketing, or accounting background is a HUGE plus.....engineers in general do not make a ton of money....Engineering Managers, Sales Engineers, GM's, OM's...they make the money.
Matt....all I'm trying to do is "#2".....my goal is not to be a everything in #1......
Also, I have my own business.....and have other ideas that I may want to explore in the future......I know I would be ALOT farther ahead right now if I had some type of business background.
Also...as an engineer, you can not go to any company and get a job.....every job is a business....so therefore the business degree can make you more marketable.
All I want to do is make 6 figures by myself...not including my wife's 2 incomes or our business incomes.
Lumberg....what type of job do you have now? how is the pay?
Lumberg said:Yeah but what do you do with it!?!?!
ttlpkg said:It makes a nice complement to a non-business degree. I got my undergrad in math years ago and I've been doing Army stuff. I got my MBA through night study because I want to sell securities when I retire in a couple of years and the MBA will help me to get a job in the field and provide a basic understanding of the market and financial concepts.
