Massive Delts.........

What up bros? I'm having a hell of a time getting my delts to respond to 5x5 training......I'm thinking they may need a higher rep range to fatigue.....Delts and Traps tonight with calves..........any suggestions?

the usual set of 10 should be fine.

NOTE: i only isolate side and rear delts, since front gets killed by everything else.

Im the exact opposite.but we all different..i was going to suggest why not use Cwicks method 3x10..

If i isolate them, it is 4 sets of 10.

set 1: isolate each arm separately (singles). say 20lb db
set 2: isolate both arms together (doubles). (same weight as first set)
set 3: single arm. 25 or 30lb db.
set 4: doubles with 25 or 30lb db.

Note: I stole this idea from a master's bodybuilder with MASSIVE shoulders.

ENJOY!

i have noticed my front delts have grown a lot from doin a lot of incline bench. I am doing the 5x5 program and i try to hit every head of the shoulder for each exercise.
i like them because u get low and high reps every workout

jkurz,

I also stalled out on my 5X5 when it came to my delts about a month ago. I recently switched to a 4x10 and got a GOOD response. It's still continuing after 4 weeks but I think it might stall out in another month or so too. Then I'll go back to 5X5 again.

This is just from my personal experience, but my delts love to be "overtrained". I think thats why theyve taken over everything else over the years. 5X5 on delts wouldnt do anything for me. They get hit alot as is with high volume benching once a week and then a second day for inclines and shoulder work. They get greedy on everything else too though. I can feel them on back day, and even when I hit biceps since I cheat out the last reps. For me the trick has been to use a ton of volume on the shoulders. Its given them no choice but to adapt and grow. Sometimes Ill hit 12 sets of shoulders plus the 40+ sets of chest I do each week, most of the sets to failure. I always make sure to hit the side delts with side laterals and rear delts atleast once a week using the reverse fly machine. My front delts always get more then enough work. I think the so called "overtraining" over the years is whats given them all the growth. Everyone responds differently as you know, so youll have to see what works best for you. Aslong as Im getting sore everyday I know Im going to grow over time. Just have to feed it!

These fuckers are greedy!! I attribute the size to all the extra work theyve gotten over the years. All that volume adds up. They were bones when I started 10 years ago. Ive always trained them even when they were sore . Never believing in the idea of overtraining. They seem to get the most from heavy inclines. While they arent massive yet, they overpower everything else right now.

beast i couldnt agree with you more. i too need a lot of volume to grow, below is my shoulder routine that has given me well rounded shoulders that ive never had:

5x5 military press
5x5 arnold press
lateral raise drop set 3x12
cable upright row super w/3x12 with 150
cable front raise 3x12 with 75
reverse flye's 3x12 with 30
bent raises 3x12 with 30
db shrugs 3x20 with 80

high reps with lighter weights, lateral raises and some rear delt work, my front delts get worked enough with benching movements.

Yes, I believe thats the reason most trainers dont get the results theyre after. They want that overnight fix. Most people dont seem to be willing to put in the work required to reach their goals. Seems everyone wants a shortcut. I know for me, its a necessity. Looks like a solid shoulder routine you got there too. Keep KILLING that shit!!
